If the Quarterly Project was about shops, could we focus on adding/updating names and wheelchair accessibility?

StreetComplete could be used for missing names.
People could also use Robert's "Ghosts" manually.
The use of https://wheelmap.org/search would also be super-simple for newer mappers.

I would like to do shops, including ghosts and nameless shops.

Our current Quarterly Project - using Food Hygiene Rating Standard data to improve addresses - ends today. We now have nearly 70,000 entities tagged with their fhrs:id identifier. During the quarter the addition of postcode data showed little sign of abating
So we've had another productive Quarterly Project- thank you to everyone who contributed
Our next Quartely Project continues the theme of addresses but from another angle. This quarter should see us address the issue of the major change under way on all our high streets as the retail sector continues its restructuring under the impact of online services
The first priority should be to reduce the number of "Ghosts". Ghosts are businesses that no longer exist (e.g Toys R US, BHS) or have changed name due to merger or takeover or rebranding (e.g Lloyds TSB, Staples, Co-operative Pharmacies). A comprehensive list can be found here. There are probably more announcements to be made to add to our work, as bank and atm networks continue to retract. This could be a good opportunity to build community links by contacting local mappers in areas that need some attention to their high streets, rather than armchairing the exercise
Of course not all retail businesses on our High Streets are chains so the Project can be regarded as generally improving coverage and detail of retail areas.
Some other resources to help you
Nameless shops and other POIs

We are also trying to get a StreetComplete instance set up to help with surveying/editing. Adam from the OSMUK Board is leading this initiative and is keen to get some assistance.

Thanks Brian.

I wanted to get this page created on the OSM wiki today so your post was helpful.

Like the map, anyone is able to improve the page. I simply chopped up Brian's words to get it started.

(As Adam said a couple of comments ago) we are looking to create StreetComplete quests for Quarterly Projects. Us Directors have an action to try StreetComplete out before our next monthly meeting (tomorrow night). It would be great if everyone could give it a go. We don't have the quest available yet, but it would give an idea of what could be achieved so that you can be involved in discussions.

Thanks, Jez.

I've been a long term use of StreetComplete, so may be able to offer feedback in new quests.

Poll Created Wed 15 May 2019 7:54AM

"Solar power" will be the Q3 (July-Sept) 2019 Quarterly Project Closed Fri 21 Jun 2019 4:02PM

Outcome

Here comes the sun (hopefully). A good point about sorting out the tags, but maybe that should be part of the project? Anyway, some activities and tools based around solar would be welcome. Group trip to a solar farm anyone?

A good case has been made (on Talk-GB) for a solar power project. Some people are interested in industrial-size installations, others on home-based. The tagging is not 100% sorted out, and we have an entry-level task for matching government planning records to industrial.

I propose that we accept this as the next QP without suggesting alternatives. You may (anonymously) disagree here.

Note: The poll finishes and the decision is made 1 week before the project is due to start, giving time to announce it and set up.
