McCreature Exhibition

DU Leilani A I'iga-Pua Public Seen by 285

As an artist, I strive to create an image that the audience can get wrapped up in imagination, with detail to keep the eye moving around the picture.
My style is surrealist, dotted with hints of subjects that relate to my past and present life.
Animals, death, life, macabre themes, and dream like imaginings.
I have a strong fascination with the human heart (and representations of it), and it features a lot through my paintings. A machine like organ, but also a symbol of emotion and a connection to the physical.

I would like to exhibit my works so people can see a world through my eyes, to experience my expression of self - visually.

McCreature.

I, Leilani Sio am happy to be a liaison for this event. Marked down tentatively in the calendar from Fri Feb 6, 2016 6pm until Tue Feb 9, 2016 until 4pm.

Hi @eamonn

Kaila couldn't finish off cleaning due to Fringe peeps coming in and out. Also we are trying to find the matching paint for wall. She came in the other day but again Fringe peeps. We are both going to be there soon. Also I gave her permission to paint on the wall itself. As long as I've been liasing, I've allowed artists to use the wall without fuss. If its an issue I can just tell people from hereon in that they can't paint or draw on the walls.

Eamonn mentioned you while discussing "McCreature Exhibition"

Hi @leilaniavisesio

I’ve been in the space a few times since the McCreature exhibition and there are a few things

first I’d like to apologise that the Fringe Artists may have intruded a bit on her final day in the space, which would have impacted her cleaning up the space. I could have communicated a bit better about what was happening that evening, and the fringe artists came in even earlier than I expected them too which was my fault I’m sorry about that.

I spent 25 minutes today trying to scrape ‘Creature’ off the window and I did not get very far. I was wondering if McCreature could come back sometime in the next few days and get it off? The space should be free before about 3pm this week. It might require some paint thinner or something as scraping and methylated spirits don’t seem to work very well.

The other thing was she painted on the walls which I wasn’t that happy with, she has covered them with white paint but it is a different shade of white than the original white and now the walls look quite patchy. We might have to repaint the entire walls to cover it up.

thanks,

Eamonn

Thanks @leilaniavisesio you're a top liaison! sorry for the Fringe being so all encompassing at the moment, it's a really busy time of year but it also means lots of people are coming and seeing the space which is great.

I'd personally prefer if people didn't paint on the walls, but it's a shared space and not up to me. Maybe the loomio group should make a decision together soon for an official position on the matter

@eamonn

No worries. We are going in Thur arvoish to paint walls. Kaila is going to koha a bucket of paint to Tory St for use of the space. McCreature has been scraped off window and debris swept.

Yeah I think that's a group decision to make. I don't personally mind as long as it's returned back to normal but it's up to liaisons to stay on top of it.
