Separate Bug-tracker for Launchpad PPA Closed Mon 24 Sep 2012 10:13AM
Diaspora is now in process of setting up a Launchpad PPA with up-to-date code and a packaging recipe.
Question is, should we handle bugs encountered with the software provided by the PPA on Launchpad?
If this proposal does not pass we will continue to handle any bugs with the Diaspora software via GitHub whether it was distributed from there or the PPA.

I think this may be good for Ubuntu-specific bugs, especially if we can get some regulars to work on the Packaging Team. I think if we set up a guideline for carrying over non-package-specific bugs to GitHub, that'd be simple enough.

As long as you copy/reference over upstream bugs, I won't daily check another bugtracker ;)

agreed. Maybe we could also add a 'report a bug' link somewhere, that informs the user of the neccessary information he should provide in a bugreport and the 'vanilla' version links to github and from the package you go to launchpad...

This is a very reasonable exception to separate Bug-Tracker

As we begin distributing the D* codebase to more places, we must remember to reserve the issue tracker and Pivotal only for issues that pertain to the Rails app.
