Society for the History of Emotions: International Reading Group

A forum for the discussion of essays, articles and ideas about the History of Emotions, sponsored by the Society for the History of Emotions (SHE). Each month this interdisciplinary, global group will discuss a selected essay. For the first few months (August - December, 2017), the ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions at the University of Melbourne will take responsibility for selecting essays and getting the ball rolling (and moderating discussion where necessary): we hope to hand over to other groups or individuals for periods of, say, four to six months at a time. Other reading groups or individuals around the world are invited to post responses to the selected essay in this forum (let's aim to keep one thread per essay, starting a new thread each month). We aim to be inclusive, civil, tolerant of different approaches and levels of expertise and experience in this field, bearing in mind that many readers will be new to the study of emotions, or students or independent scholars, as well as established academics. The Melbourne reading group meets in the first week of the month, and we will aim to post something, either collectively, or as individuals, by the middle of the month at the latest. We also encourage everyone to introduce themselves. We look forward to seeing you all online! Stephanie Trigg, ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions, The University of Melbourne.
