Online Consultation Process of the Civil Society Forum of the Western Balkans Summit Series - Environment, Energy and Climate Change

“We are at a Tipping Point, in our climate as well as our societies.
The people least responsible for the climate crisis will be the hardest hit.
Climate change is a wake-up call, and a real opportunity: To change our world for the benefit of everyone.”

If you agree with these statements, or even if you do not agree with them, consider joining us here at the Online Consultative Process for the Civil Society Forum to bring together CSOs from the Western Balkans and the European Union in order to elaborate policy proposals and to push forward actions that answer the main challenges facing our region today. Together, we would like to define how to proceed with the environmental aspects of the WB6 Process.

We at the Heinrich Boell Foundation and the European Fund for the Balkans invite you to take part in this online consultation forum to jointly explore pathways for environmental and climate improvements and justice in the Western Balkans. As we live in Anthropocene, the geological epoch shaped by humans, should we become stewards of our region or live in harmony with nature to achieve a good life for all?

We would like to invite you to a one-month journey to consider options how to reach the Paris goals, implement the WB Sustainability Charter and most importantly advise/monitor political leaders in the WB6 Process. Next stop of our journey is the Civil Society Forum to be held in Trieste, Italy in July 2017. We would like to invite you to give us views and priorities, to jointly reflect on the exciting challenges in the sectors of environment, energy and climate change and explore paths that might lead us into a better future.

We aim to use this online forum to discuss who should represent environmental CSOs at the meeting in Trieste, but more importantly, we are keen to jointly draft and agree on our priorities to be presented to the WB6 Summit in July 2017. More detailed background information on this process can be found here: DOC (attached).

Sit back, forget about your seatbelt and enjoy the ride with us.

Please, consider inviting your CSO counterparts to join this consultative process.
