Dutch Caribbean Maritime Heritage Workgroup - Theme 1: Capacity Building

General needs and wishes identified within these theme during the January meeting were as follows:

1. Building capacity on different levels (e.g. political, heritage professionals, dive schools, etc.), which may lead to creating new approaches

2. Spark enthusiasm and inspire involvement on the subject of underwater cultural heritage

3. Creating continuity through a network of resources and knowledge

4. Educating and training the current and next generations

Proposed objectives for the roadmap derived from this were:

A. Start with mapping the need for building capacity (envisioning the landscape)

B. Establishing an overview of the current situation (what’s there?)

C. Identifying the costs -- where funding is secured, we can already start implementing some of the projects, but our main goal is to advise on the implementation by governments

D. Creating an overview of the stakeholders per island per sector

E. Creating a timeframe
