Re-use of great architecture in the red zone

I was also thinking of great little houses in the red zone which are due to be demolished. A perfect example is Bill Sutton's old house which is a mid-century architectural gem. Currently owned by Neil Roberts who had the romantic idea that it would be used as an artist's residence. Why don't we make this happen? Either, move it and put it somewhere it could be used by artists. Or come up with a solution where it can remain where it is in the red zone as a little oasis - hybrid museum/workplace.

Sounds like a god idea. Might be useful to plot where these places are on a map and talk to the heritage people at the Council.

Hi J thanks for this. I hadn't heard of OpenStreetMap and it does strike me that introduces some exciting community network possibilities. We are also keen to bring into dialogue these tertiary insitutions into the project as is viable. You say welted down the bottom, did you mean Unitec?

I've put a call out for possible buildings to be included. Keep you posted

Garry Moore (ex-Mayor) and Engineer Michael King are in progress with this awesome idea. They're working on a number of sites in the CBD to relocate homes and set them up for short-term office leases. The business model stacks up to buy, relocate and lease these classic homes for 5-6 years.
Clustering 3 or 4 homes together with courtyards and shared services will be a welcome break to the over-priced tilt slabs we're already seeing popping up around town. Great way to retain some of the city's character.

Thanks Carl. That's great that Gary is doing this.

It's Gary is it? Not Johnny? Or are both father and son doing it?
