Loomio

Reasons I've had to switch back to Loomio v1

Daymn Loomio v2 is glorious on the whole.
You know it's a big step forward when the switch makes you go 'aaaahhh. The future. Yum.' which I get a little bit every time I switch, but there are a couple of issues

  1. just wasted ages trying to embed a (fit to screen width) image into a subgroup description. Gah. Switched to v1 and sure enough it was easy peas.

    • however - it added shit loads of <br> wherever there was a line break. Grr. Took me ages to delete all of those - turns out I just needed to drag & drop (or copy-paste into the editor) Beautiful!

  2. Tags - I can't seem to delete tags in v2??

cough can we get a dark theme for Loomio pls?

So how actually are you meant to embed a (fit to screen width) image into a group or subgroup description, in v2?

Hi @Luke Flegg! Can you provide some screenshots, I'm not sure what you're talking about exactly.

The <br>'s ! I thought they were fixed, I wonder if your Loomio 1 is an old version. Are you using a version of Loomio 1 with "Try Loomio 2 beta" in the top left corner?

Hey <3 I'll post a screen cast in a sec

I worked how to do the image embed thing.. I just copy / paste an image, or drag + drop it into the text box. Which. Is. Awesome.
I just had no idea it was possible so continued the html code/markup way I knew!

Here's another mini one I thought not worth a whole new thread - see the group names in the filter section don't all fit? the > arrow button does nothing when I click it:

The group page is undergoing final re-arrangment today or tomorrow, filters on a sidebar, replaced with a nice big search field

Nice. And is that right that tags can only be edited in Loomio v1?

You add and remove tags from the thread.

Tags are a little problematic in that the data structure used is in need of work, and I'm just doing my best to support them then fix them once 1.0 is retired.

I switched back the other day because not all of my groups were visible in the menu bar in 2.0. I could have been having a brainfart moment, but I checked pretty thoroughly and they didn't seem to be there. Seems to be fixed today, but maybe worth checking out?

Loomio 2 allows you to customise the voting options in a Proposal, but you can't fully customise it huh? I'm trying to get something like what Borderlands (talk.theborderland.se) have, with 'Discourage' instead of block (I actually think for us in Extinction Rebellion UK I'd love Strongly agree, Agree, Abstain, Disagree, because we also use it for reflection and learning, temperature checking take aways from our shared experiences, and it's fairly easy to say something people mostly agree with, but it can be really powerful to really* hit the nail on the head with an excellent reflection/ statement and we can make it clear that this better represents us than something a bit more generic and agreeable) I guess I could create a Poll with those options rather than proposal, I just really like the look of Proposals, and it's a bit of a stretch to ask everyone in our group to manually customise every option in a poll to match our other ones. Unless it was possible to set it as the default for everyone?

I wonder if a scale with words on it (like score vote with named values) would be better for this? What icon would you use for strongly agree?

We do have a concept called poll templates, which will come into being when loomio 1.0 is retired and we can make architecture changes we couldn't while it is still around. This will allow group admins to edit the templates of proposals, score poll etc, and make them much more customisable then save and remove them... so the set of polling tools available is customised for your purpose.
