TASK 2.2 Developing a Social Enterprise Survey

DCW Dr. Crystal Williams Public Seen by 47

In this thread we invite Navigators to contribute their ideas towards designing a survey that could examine the diverse features of social enterprises in Queensland.

To get the ball rolling, the Project Management Team has brainstormed a range of questions that could be included in the survey. Please read the attached document and add your feedback in this thread or email the Project Management Team privately.

To help think about the survey critically you could provide responses to questions such as:
- Is the information we are focusing on in the survey useful to your organisation, and why?
- Is the survey missing questions that would gather useful information?

We aim to have a Final Draft of the survey by the end of June and create a Loomio poll to determine if the survey is ready for distribution. If the Navigators Group agrees we can move onto Task 3: Launching the Survey

Hi. Can I suggest if they appear relevant that you consider using questions from the FASES and/or Map for Impact surveys? If you use common survey items, you will be able to compare and benchmark the information. If you make up completely new questions or different response formats, these will not be comparable.

Thanks for this @jobarraket . @crystalwilliams1 and myself will be taking the lead on bringing together the survey. I'm certain these surveys will be very helpful for us. Do you know where we can access the questionnaires used?

Update @libbywardchristie has kindly shared the Map 4 Impact report with the project team. After doing a quick google search I have also found the FASES 2016 report. Many thanks for this!!

It would be worth talking to Jo Barraket about her work on FASES as well

@crystalwilliams1 is it worth copying and pasting Mark and Tania's contributions in here for others to see?

Thank you @markdaniels for some very important inputs:

  1. Question about redistribution of income
  2. Question about mission not just what social outcomes they deliver
  3. Question about challenges and opportunities for them in their business – FASES identified social procurement – it would be good to understand if that is the case in this cohort
  4. Separate the parent and the SE in these questions – we find that people will give the easiest data not necessarily the correct data
  5. Might be interesting to understand if they are certified with ST, a member of QSEC, been through impact boom or impact academy, interacted, with SEFA, Foresters or SVA
