Leveraging 25th Anniversary of Ralph Nader’s 1st speech on Real Estate

BW Bill Wendel Public Seen by 394

What’s best way to acknowledge the 25th Anniversary of #RalphNader’s 1st speech on Informal #RealEstate cartel?

We’ve begun seeding that question on RECALL’s MeetUp Group in Boston:

And more broadly on Inman Coast-to-Coast, a private Facebook group with over 12,000 leading tech-savvy real estate innovators, primarily traditional real estate agents. Here’s an excerpt on a long thread about publishing enforcement actions against real estate professionals. It underlines the importance of our correspondence with the Mass. Attorney General’s Office and Mass. Office of Consumer Affairs over that past year. The Mass. real estate board’s next meeting (http://bit.ly/MassREBrd110817) is November 8, the same day Ralph Nader returns to Harvard Law School.

EXCERPT:

Marilyn Wilson I choose not to be a Realtor, in part, because the gap between the code of ethics and reality is scandalous. Tomorrow, October 28, marks the 25th Ralph Anniversary of Ralph Nader’s first speech calling the real estate on “informal cartel” (a phrase first used by the Consumer Federation of America).

What does the industry have to show for efforts to raise the bar over the past 25 years? Invite innovators inside and outside the industry to bring about long overdue reforms. Want to ramp up that effort before NAR hosts their annual convention in Boston a year from now?

As the image below shows, Nader will be back in Boston soon; and perhaps more important legal hackers experimenting with smart contracts, artificial intelligence, blockchain & CustomerTech have the real estate industry on their radar screen.

Should we watch MIT’s Legal Forum offline as a group Monday & Tuesday, October 30 & 31? Let’s discuss that and invite other ideas on this thread before using Loomio’s tools to vote on options.
