What do you think about Duniter (crypto-currency) for the Pirate Party?

C Carnops Public Seen by 35

I just discovered Duniter (replaces uCoin), a crypto-currency project that is related to "Universal Dividend". See https://en.duniter.org/ and https://fr.duniter.org/ for more details.

This might be interesting to study this new currency and start a project on it, as some Crews work on UBI.

Hi, I like the idea but I would link it to a (local?) index based on, bear with me, HEMP ...
The potential as a cradle-to-cradle & all-purpose crop gives it the ability to set up local independence in an ecological manner. It also demands of industry to be transparant in their processes and patents.
This combined with the unconditional basic income and the mentality shift every person generates a surplus in society could be an architecture to a viable economic system.
The combination of the virtual currency to a physical good, can only boost it's viability by implementing clean open architecture.
Thoughts ? :)

I've some knowledge of cryptocurrencies, and I like the idea of uCoin. But I'm not convinced the Web of Trust can avoid abuse by people creating multiple accounts. One person will possibly not be able to pull this off, but a group of people working together will, I think. But I'd like to be proven wrong on this. I'm certainly giving it a try.

To avoid multiple account creation you could sign your ucoin key with the belgian ID card. It introduces some centralization into the currency but I don't know any software technique or protocol to assure that a given person has one and only one account.

As you are allowed to open a lot of bank accounts, why one should limit to one uCoin account?

It's not a «bank account» but a monetary creation process based on community members and theire lifetime expectency.

The idea is that each confirmed account receives a universal dividend, a.k.a. basic income. If one person would have multiple confirmed accounts, he would receive the dividend multiple times.

@Carnops You could open multiple account but we would give your basic income only on the account that was signed. And if you sign multiple ones, that can be detected and the dividend would be given to only one of them.
