Proposals and Decision Making Proposal

AG Andy Goldring Public Seen by 272

This is the foundational decision making agreement.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/11VSQekBqZxGveRqh3_SSeVQ92FT27CCmo1rTdAB1sD0/edit# is the live google doc and a .doc version is attached. I think the google doc is still the easiest place to change and agree the wording, so my suggestion is to work on it there for next week or so and then identify any outstanding items for discussion here. Hi everyone, I have had a really good look at @edwalta 's docs and @erinyoung 's suggestions and think that the way forward is to simplify everything as much as possible. It ends up with there being 6 very short (some of them are just 1-2 sentences) policies:
Policy 1: Adoption of sociocracy
Policy 2: Vision, Mission and Aims
Policy 3: Proposal forming
Policy 4: Consent Decision Making
Policy 5: Scope of Co-Lab activity
Policy 6: Online technology

It is currently all on one document for ease of commenting

Well done @andygoldring, really simplifies what we are agreeing.

Andy,
Well done, that not only simplifies what we are voting on but sets a great patterns for others to keep their proposals simple.

I will response on the Google doc also, but below are some comments for you to consider…….

To guard against being overwhelmed by policies and in the interest of taking this activity off your plate / CoLab meeting agenda, may I suggest:

POLICY 1 AND 4 - I expect that policy 1 and 4 are closely linked. let that be a task for the appointed person to resolve over time.

POLICY 2 - I will defer my comments regarding vision mission, pending appointment of Initial Stewards group who are the caretaker / custodian of the planning process. The stewards need to develop the rationale and strategic context to logically conclude why we like a vision mission etc.

POLICY 3 - Proposal forming is a procedure that relates to how decisions are made.

POLICY 5 - If the Colab "scope of work is defined by the Vision, Mission and Aims” then it logically follows that Colab is a strategic objective and associated strategies to realise that objective. I like the statement and its more appropriately placed on the Website in say (About the CoLab) section.

The strategic objective is: To enhance the internal capacity of the permaculture movement to better address global problems

The strategies to realise this objective include: provide on-line space; strategic planning & project planning processes; engender & support enterprise; link with allies; provide resources & training …. See the draft aims.

Thanks Ed
