Success and green lights

SJ Sophie Jerram Public Seen by 20

It seems that a series of events must occur for this project to not only go ahead in Christchurch and succeed:
-Artists' willingness to create
-A clearly defined kaupapa
-Community interest in the kernel of the idea
-A site and people to nominally host the project
-Resources that allow people time to spend time on the project.
-Reception, engagement and opportunity for feedback

I'd be keen to hear other thoughts on what success might look like.

We have just had some funding approved from Creative NZ for the TEZA. We are rapt as it means we can commission new art works! It's not the sum we asked for so Mark and I are talking about how we keep to our original intentions and not overreach. We will be looking for commercial sponsors who might share our vision too.
YAY - I just wanted to share the news with you all.

Congratulations Sophie and Mark - terrific news of the funding.

I'm wondering if having a nominal 'title' could help, one that perhaps all artworks can link into (TEZA being the operational umbrella).

Congratulations Mark and Sophie! - I've just popped in a message on the discussion on the location etc. Also, would our event be aligned with any other events in town? Would it be from mid Nov? I'm a wee bit confused over the time frame and need to set it with a potential project with a Finnish friend of mine... - M

Well done Mark and Sophie on the funding approval! agree with the idea @michelleannelouise and @jgrey about a nominal title or distilled project description. I have likewise found this an initial challenge in describing TEZA to people, the first question being 'so what is TEZA exactly'?
A village where artists from around NZ collaborate with Christchurch artists and groups to discuss and create alternative forms of exchange?
A temporary campsite to engage cultural tactics and strategies for a re-imagined economic order?
A two week artist 'summit' based in a re-purposed shopping mall that showcases projects that focus on building networks and new social relations of production/consumption?
An open, utopian community of cultural workers that will be building a new collective myth to re-engage with the mega-machine?
A relaxing and convivial environment for artists and local communities to recover from the contemporary pandemic of 'flux fatigue' (thanks @jgrey )

Just throwing some words around, you can see I'm not the best at creating slogans I get a bit didactic!

I've just shifted the 'nominal title' idea to the other discussion group - this ok?

and back again... to paraphrase curator, writer and editor of Artlink Stephanie Britton ‘we are the new war artists’. Art in the face of disaster (of all kinds) is about the need to take some kind of action from beyond the circles of power and corruption, to call for new imaginings, different perspectives and re-considered options.

@jgrey thanks for your ongoing notations! Mark and I have made various points of contact with SCAPE but we're pretty clear that our intentions are quite distinct despite there being some cross over in interest from audience. yell out if/when you want an intro to Chalkle, specifically as I share an office with them in Wellington!

River of Arts - did that become the Arts Voice? Maybe>??
