It's funny, all the kinect stuff was around 2012 and later at 2014 for kinect v2. It is almost retro now..

Yes, the rush of interest quickly passed. I think it was because 'everybody was using it' and it also wasn't very reliable - many artists used the skeleton-following algorithms and they weren't robust enough for a performance.

I'm looking at using some now for a project but I'm not going to use the higher level processing , just the depth information. It's noticeable that the V motion makes a body shape from the depth outline rather than the built-in software. It's possible he then watches that shape and moves it to change the sounds rather than relying only on the algorithms and his movements. There are coloured patches that he reaches for : pointless unless he's actively using the display.
