Greetings, fellow humans. May your toast be evenly spread and your tea the perfect temperature. I am Jamie, trying my best to make sense and make good. Expect me to take an engaged role in the 'Sharing Learning' strand, primarily by examining and evolving what we are practising at individual and group levels. I'm also very interested in creating learning clubs/hubs/societies for capacity-building and community, and considering how this all fits into broader emerging systems and narratives.

Hi everybody. I'm a community activist in the Eastbourne area of East Sussex, currently heavily involved in setting up a climate and eco action network to facilitate deep cross-community collaboration on local climate and environmental action (see www.ecoactioneb.co.uk). Looking for opportunities for social and personal renewal out of the ashes of the inevitable collapse of the status quo under the weight of the coronavirus pandemic, economic shocks of Brexit, & the hammerblows of impacts from climate change & rapid biodiversity decline.

Hi people! I'm Kayleigh. I'm currently an Intern with Make Votes Matter: the campaign for Proportional representation in the UK. I recently graduated from Canterbury Christ Chruch University with a 2.1 in politics and I'm considering going back to study my masters.

I have some plans for something I want to launch in Canterbury and my local Swale region. (Will make a post about it once the designs are a bit more polished). I'm really excited to see what we have to offer as a movement and I hope together we can stop UK politics feeling so hopeless

Hi All, I'm Oli from The Open Co-op (we also have a Loomio group where we are discussing plans for our event in June - OPEN 2020). Our purpose is to build a world-wide community of individuals and organisations committed to the creation of a collaborative, sustainable economy.

If you are interested in discussing ideas about cooperation, open source, decentralization, and helping to co-create the new economy please join us in London in June - early bird tickets are available until next week 11th March - hope to see you all there! :)

Hey there.

I'm Andrea, from Horsham, West Sussex.

I'm in the 'deep hanging out' stage of planning our citizens action network.

We've got a few institutions in Horsham that are already functioning as 'friendlies' for the environmental movement here.

I've made a list of all the green projects in the town.

I'm meeting some of the larger environmental groups this week, to see where they are doing, and what their long-term ambitions are.

Gerat to hear Andrea. How best can this community of interest / experience help you? I wonder if we should hold a Zoom call especially for people in the early stages of setting up CANs?

Hi Andrea,
One thing a local group might like to think about is the possibility of encouraging local businesses to trade in mutual credit - The Open Credit Network is looking for locations that might be interested in becoming 'local nodes', as part of the wider UK network. Atm, the network is only providing mutual credit services to businesses, but as the network develops to incorporate more of the supply chain and a diversity of businesses in certain locations it should be possible to extend mutual credit to individuals as well - thereby providing a genuine 'commons-based' economy which can run in parallel to the existing extractive economy - whilst forming the 'transactional-glue' to help build local, citizen led initiatives of real value.
I hope this is of interest!?
All the best

Hi people.... I’m new to the Alternative (came to it through ‘The Listening Society’) and new to Loomio... another social media app to learn. Gods... But that apart - I took part in the Sunday call and was really struck by the diversity of interest and experience and the gentle, careful, courageous way it was help - thank you. As an intro: I used to be a horse vet in Newmarket, then taught anaesthesia at Cambridge and Dublin vet schools. Then I wrote novels - the Boudica: Dreaming quartet is probably the best known. Then I did an MA in sustainable economics at Schumacher, and came home and became a smallholder. All the way along, I taught shamanic dreaming and out of that grew the ‘Accidental Gods’ project which aims to facilitate conscious evolution as the next stage of our evolutionary journey - in the belief that we need to re-connect with the web of life in order to be able to ask ‘what do you want of me’. When not throwing everything into that, I’m endeavouring to build local resilience networks around food, water and power in our local area. Regenerative farming seems one key answer to the interlocking crises of climate, ecology and resilience. SO that’s my field of interest.

Hey everyone, I'm a new member to the Alternative. I'm a poet and writer whose poison of choice is literature, psychedelics and witchcraft.

Originally born into the green and pleasant land that is South Manchester, I was mad enough to take a leap of faith and move to arguably the witchiest city in the world where I bagged myself a boujee job as a Creative Copy Writer at Ogilvy, London.

Amid chaotic city life, I'm currently shopping round my Young Adult Fiction novel, a spiritual coming – of – age tale brimming with surreal adventure. I'll be uploading weekly chapter releases as a podcast soon - so stay tuned!

Lastly, in Gabriella’s (lack of) spare time, she writes articles and poems, volunteers at Treadwell’s Bookstore and practices Yoga. I'm most active on instagram @GabriellaTavini , so follow me there and we can get to know one another even more.

I have written for Cunning Folk, Harness Magazine and Manchester Literature Festival. And I'm keen to get involved in the Storytelling group within the Alternative.

Amore a tutti.
