request and share contacts to ease discovery

One advantage centralized services have is the ability to search and find people using just their names. In diaspora we have to use their full address if were to find a person who us on a less known pod. This could be simplified by friend suggestions. We should be able to easily choose contacts and send it to friends. They should get a notification and a new aspect in contacts list as suggested friends. If we can't find a person by their names, we should be able to request our contacts in a easy format if they know the id of the person we are interested in.

I miss this feature each time a friend of mine joins D*

I like this idea. I think it'd be useful when family and friends join. I also follow people for their work, and I think it'd enrich that aspect. I don't see a privacy issue if it's easy and clear to opt out.

Like J. Haß.
A clearer idea, clearly bounded, would be much appreciable.

This would be a nice feature, if done in a subtle way.

I'm not against "recommending" profiles to other people per-se, but I think we have to flesh this out some more, first.

In fact, not necessary.

Everything in diaspora is "pull" so far - YOU determine what you want and go and get it. I don't want "push" behaviour like "Oh, this may interest you! nudge nudge"

Since a contact is represented by a string (their address), and sharing strings is already possible, I don't see any danger for our privacy. This is just GUI-sugar for something that is already possible but not in a practical way. Good idea.
