this has become relevant now we have new applications for membership. There is also an assumption that there is a membership fee in addition to the provision of a guarantee. Obviously we can choose to make that fee zero but I'm wondering if there is some merit in asking members to pay a fee as assumed by the original CLT constitution we based ours on? if so how much should the membership fee be?

Do we go back to distinguishing between voting & non-voting members?

the membership form automatically creates a register of applicants. Strictly speaking there should be a vote or directors decision on who becomes a member. should we just have a Loomio vote on each member and then invite them to pay a membership fee if that is what we decide?

This sounds ideal to me. And the same conversation would also mean giving them voting rights and onboarding them on to Loomio & Trello as a member here? I think we also need to onboard people to Discord but that we should do this earlier in the piece (when they first fill out the registration form, include an invite link in the autoresponder).

Do you want to include this in a proposal we can vote on to clarify this onboarding procedure?

should we have a residency application check box added to the form which applicants for residency fill out as well so we can vote on that before they are invited to sign a rental or lease agreement and move onto the property?

Agree with that as the best way forward.

replying to toms post in the failed vote on recruiting new members. I think we will get very committed members if they are willing to read the Constitution and be a member. We'd certainly find our most committed members.
(The link to the constitution is not correct on the form. I've spent 10mins looking for it. I then agree with Sun, it really needs to be spell out on an info graphic or drip fed for these type of decisions. I'm happy to remove the link to the constitution and make the first engagement agree to receiving information from us, where we break it down) I am wondering why we dont want new members to read the constitution and feel we need to "break it down for them" and Drip Feed it to them? If this is the planned action, who will do the breaking down and who will do the drip feeding of information to prospective members? and who will prepare the information beyond what I have done with https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ev4rijmkhD4wA9u5EumOT5CE7kwuxSpHs7pf92vn358/edit#heading=h.3nqzfnmcj0ah and the simple flier Monique made. https://drive.google.com/file/d/14PaHx4Vojt3ii2rBBtfghi78S5lGkzAj/view?usp=sharing

Tom the link was to the public folder so thay can see all the public documents we have. (the constitution is in that folder) but I have corrected that to be the link to the actual ELF constitution. and just put a more information link at the bottom of the form

I don’t think the proposal should be around the amount of memebers we want, but just ensuring we have all the loose ends tied up before recruiting.
I feel there is still more ground work to be done finalising things/ I am the newest memeber to the residency here and am still confused and unsure about a lot of things- and know we are still nuttingnit out.
I think if we are going to do a big recruitment for non resident memebers then we need to have someone delegated to sendingnout monthly email updates, weekly scheduled social media posts and inspirstion.
I also think at this stage having another 20 people on all of these thread receiving all these notifications would be to much.
It is important to sort out which communications residents and non residents will receive.
