Hi everyone,

Happy New Year to you all.

2 important workshops on mobilisation strategy for community democracy in 2020

All XR Future Democracy Circles are seeking to initiate a mobilisation of community democracy in 2020. Energy is rising and we really want to bring you all up to speed with these proposals and get your considered input as democracy advocates/experienced practitioners.

So we are hosting 2 identical workshops

Monday 13 January 7:30pm-9:30pm (GMT)  https://zoom.us/j/936602122

Tuesday 14 January 2:00pm-4:00pm (GMT)  https://zoom.us/j/355178235

Each workshop will be a deliberative session with input on the proposed principles of our strategy along with selected examples of tangible steps. There will be deliberation time in breakout groups followed by an integration phase where individual and collective positions on the proposals can be expressed and compiled.

Any further details will be posted on this Loomio platform as they emerge.

2 other great workshops happening this week:

Empathy Cafe: How might we best build an XR Facilitator Network?

Wednesday 8 January 7:30pm-9:30pm (GMT) https://zoom.us/j/9896109339

This free workshop will use the process of the Empathy Circle to explore how Extinction Rebellion can best build a facilitator network to embed new democratic tools into the DNA of society. After setting the context, the session will explore deeply the ideas we all might have and harvest the results for taking tangible steps forward. Facebook event

Rojava and Democratic Confederalism

Thursday 9 January 7:30pm-9:00pm (GMT) https://zoom.us/j/445562623

Extreme weather disaster hits several cities and towns in the UK. Mutual aid teams are operating in every town as the state flounders in its response while hording resources and sending out police. People are protesting in the streets and slowly some local assemblies are

happening. How could we utilize structures of democratic confederalism to take the mutual aid response, protest and nascent direct democratic processes to the next level to build dual power? Facebook event

Best wishes

Hi Paul
Happy new year to you
Thanks for this info. I'd like to do the zoom meeting on Monday 14th. Really interested in the empathy cafe meeting this Wednesday but I had misunderstood the timings and thought it was in the day time and am now out on the evening... Would
be really interested if it runs again.

Excited about all these initiatives. But would just like to question the title / notion of 'taking power'. From whom on behalf of whom? With what permission? Sounds exactly like a Momentum action. Lots of respect and love for them, but to me this stirs up all the old feelings of Us v Them. Divided communities.
