Logo design competition

R RobJN Public Seen by 32

So we have a company, a name (OpenStreetMap United Kingdom C.I.C), but we still need a logo.

Let's run a design contest. Not promising any reward here other than the satisfaction that you designed the first ever OSM UK logo. We vote on the winner as a collective.

Deadline: 7th December 2016.

Here's my entry:
logo
In this piece I seek to create a bold depiction of the organisational nomenclature in a stark royal azure, encompassed in a delicate light halo glow, set upon the familiar green. The ying and yang of UK and OpenStreetMap brought together in an elegant natural pairing. Like a kingfisher sat upon a verdant riverbank.

Juts been think: the N, E, S, W on a compass could be Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. May make a good logo.

Ooh, I like these as they have the red, white, blue of the flag :-) Would be cool to use this with some reference to the OSM map too!

There is going a lot for logos which are square, work on a very small scale, and ideally in black and white as well. Here is my hat in the ring.

I received a submission from Elio Qoshi (they recently posted a logo concept for the OSM project to the talk mailing list).

It includes the words but I think we could adapt it slightly to include the red/blue "UK" in the corner of the logo (similar to what @harrywood proposed).

Elio has asked me to share the following:

P.S: To keep helping projects with free design, we rely on Patreon, it would be cool if you could share it among your fellow mappers: https://www.patreon.com/ura

I liked what Elio said about the font choice. "...is written in "Overpass" an Open Source font sponsored by Red Hat. Overpass is based on the street sign font, so I think it's a perfect fit"

If you want to use UK road sign fonts then they are under OGL:

At the Directors meeting we picked Elio's design as the winner. We done Elio. We will be working with Elio to make some minor changes to it. The first edit has been complete (i.e. making a version similar to @harrywood's proposal but based on Elio's more simple design).
