Dear all we received this message a few days ago. Sarah is passionate about forest gardens. As NFGs we don't have the resources to support her. Does anyone here have a project that she could support you with?

"By way of introduction, my name is Sarah Eiden and I am a masters candidate at the University of Montana seeking at degree in International Conservation and Development. While the degree is very broad, my personal interests are centered around restorative agriculture, specifically systems using woody perennials for restorative purposes, to increase resiliency within a system in the face of a changing global climate and provision of food security for participatory communities.
Part of my degree requires an international work component where I take on new research or work on a collaborative project in the field. I came across your work through and article listing various organizations promoting restorative agriculture. I was drawn to your work specifically as National Forest Gardening is just that, a organisation promoting, educating and establishing local forest gardens. Forest gardens are systems that initially brought me into this area of study, and their establishment and participation within community forest gardens is at the heart of my research and long-term career goals.

With that said, I am reaching out to you to see if there is any precedent or opportunity for a masters candidate to take on part of a project or research with your organisation. My course load is set up with the intention of field research taking place between August and January of the academic year.

If there are no opportunities to partner and work along side you all, I am hoping you may have some field connections of communities establishing and/or seeking to gain participatory action within forest gardens. My background is both ecological as well as within the social sciences with my research questions spanning functional diversity within a system to barriers for participatory action.
I hope for the opportunity to speak with you all further about potential partnerships and/or connections in the field you may have.
