Editing/responding to a thread

When I first started using Loomio I could type my responses with no problem, but now as I write I get to the bottom of the page and cannot see what it is I am writing: I can scroll to see it but as soon as I start to write it drops to the bottom of the screen. Very frustrating.
I also format some of my posts, using bullet points and paragraphs. This formatting is lost when I save it, though if I try to edit the formatted post is shown. Also very frustrating.

Thanks Cath. I'm just catching up on the thread so will join in. I see you have had a go at writing lots to see if you can replicate the problem - which has been a problem for a little while now so I thought I'd join in and see if I can show the problem.

I'm approaching the bottom of the screen right now so if I keep on typing it shouldn't be long before I run out of visible space and have to hope that what I am writing is spelt correctly and here I am running along the bottom of the screen...I just scrolled with the far right scroll (the one at the side of this text doesn't work - and as soon as I started to type again it dropped to the bottom of the screen. I can type along the bottom but backspace drops it out of sight - example coming up right

The first example runs along the bottom of the screen but backspace resulted in the second screenshot: the bottom lines dropped out of sight.

I'm using a laptop running Windows 10 - and it's only in the last couple of weeks that this behaviour has started: I used to edit with no problems.

the off-the-bottom-of-the-page thing is less problematic with swipy devices and touchpads, but it's annoying when you've just got a keyboard and mouse. And it means you have to use both the scroll bar on the individual post and the scroll-bar on the page as well to get to the bottom

I've not been able to reproduce this problem at all, and James and I have spent about an hour looking for it... but it sounds kind of serious from a UX point of view, do you think you could use a service/program (eg: the similarly named Loom) to record the problem so I can be sure I'm taking the right steps to reproduce it and know what I'm looking for?

problem seems to have gone away...not really a prob just an irk...but the comment about touchpad being no worries is illustrative of problems caused by modern programming which caters for touchscreens and phones and disregards keyboards...like my banks new software! :disappointed:
cross compatibility must a real challenge.

aha...as soon as an emoji is used...it starts doing that cut off the bottom of comment box thang...

I'm writing this on a laptop - no touch screen.

I am now approaching the bottom of the comment space. I can use the outer scroll bar to scroll down and move this comment box up a bit but as soon as I start to type it shifts back down. I can't use the internal scroll bar.

That's not too bad but I would prefer to have the typing area above the bottom of the comment space - and when I make mistakes I cannot use delete or backspace without the line dropping out of sight altogether.

Hello - I have recently found that writing text using the mobile app to be unforgiving. On my android phone, we cannot move the cursor back to a misspelled word and change it. We cannot select a word, it has to be the whole word. It is quite a bad experience on Android right now. What should I provide so you can see what is being dealt with?

Sorry about this. I've just updated the angular-material library that we use for text areas to see if the behaviour is improved with the latest version. Can you test and let me know if you notice any change?

OK, i'm trying a reply now in the app and

yep. I can edit and move the cursor around fine. Better now, back to usual behaviour ...
