I'm just generally uncertain about the priorities so this is an abstain

Change DApp Prioritization Loomio to Emulate Conviction Token Voting Closed Sat 9 Feb 2019 10:01PM

Thanks for the positive response. re: Kay's question. I did a test and indeed when you remove an issue that was completed, it shows the points next to a nothing issue, so you can simply remove the points and shift them somewhere else when you edit your vote on a weekly basis. You will always have 50 points available to you.

Hi, I wanted to make a small change to the weekly prioritization Loomio. Jeff has been thinking about all sorts of token models as you know. One of them is called conviction voting. When I was talking to Jeff about how the weekly DApp prioritization Loomio works we realized its similar to conviction voting. Conviction voting (Jeff/Griff correct me if any of this is wrong) is like a recommendation engine in the sense that you earn or buy tokens that can be used to vote on a list. (In this case the list is the DApp prioritization list and we use points ) The recommendations are non-binding but help to create signals (esp in large groups) that can be used to inform decisions and priorities. Conviction voting is also continuous and so it never really ends. At any given point someone may use their tokens (in our case we each get 50 points) to try to ensure something gets to the top of the list while other items are bumped off the list or moved down the list. Thus in the case of the DApp prioritization, by setting the end date of the Loomio to be 4 months from now, we are essentially enabling conviction voting. Items near the top of the list are the ones most likely to make it into the weekly sprint. Other items will get bumped down the list over time, and items completed will be removed from the list thus freeing those tokens (in our case points) to be used to vote on other items. You can edit the Loomio and reassign your points to another item at any time. Thus this becomes a dogfooding way to test out conviction token voting. Note there will still be a weekly reminder to vote as the Loomio will be updated constantly as items move in the DApp from issue to completed. However now you can add new items to the list whenever you want. The weekly DApp sprint will simply take a look at the top items in the list of recommended priorities every Friday.

Interesting hack. Are we sure the points go back to the individual if stuff gets bumped off the list? I am down to find out!

Happy to test the idea, perhaps there's a rolling reassessment each week in case roll back is desirable?
