What shall we do with our HelpRefugees Facebook group?

Because I think if the FB group remains inactive and without clearly shared purpose it's worse than not having one, I'd like to have a clear vision for this group (and leader[z] with capacity) or sack it off.

I thiink the group was set up for Pioneers to give feedback and ask questions (not post listings though) and for us to share announcements, is that right?

I see some benefits to it but a big concern I have with it is it detracts from Ideaspace which we now have nicely set up as a V1 and I think we have a great opportunity here to actually start testing it! It's not quite as familiar/ quick as Facebook, but it is a vastly superior tool for having a voice in Dignity, and it's the product we're working toward and need to test methinks.

I definitely would like to keep our Dignity FB page alive though, because people can tag us that way (you can't tag a group) so I think that's probably best for announcements too (along with email/ text/ events and of course Ideaspace when the announcement relates to an Ideaspace topic)

It is designed as a communication method for our pioneers to speak with us, for feedback, questions, comments & news (2 way) After I floated the idea at the pioneers launch it felt important to use tools that people understand how to use; ie fb, email & messages through the site. I believe it takes extra energy & effort to use a new tool: which might detract from the original new tool of the marketplace. I hear your concern, but let's not decide it's useless until it deems itself useless.

Also going to put Luke Flegg's hat on here... do you think this question is loaded / directed etc? It suggests something needs doing with it.

Sorry, yes I hadn't understood until the pioneer launch that it had that purpose (then at the launch I was still a bit confused because you were inviting peoples' ideas on what tool / space to use for capturing ideas/feedback) I still feel it clashes with the intention of Ideaspace. They exist to do similar things, but Ideaspace is better designed; that's my view. Thus I have energy for making it work on Ideaspace (at least as a trial) but not so much on Facebook.

I hugely appreciate the point about meeting people where they are, definitely. Also quite a lot of people totally refuse to use Facebook because it's run my a questionable (at best) corporatation doing shifty stuff with our personal data, amongst things. I've not heard of anyone having an issue like that with a tool like Loomio, so in that sense it's more inclusive, not less. Which combined with it being more suitable in its design, and of course the tool we're ultimately wanting to test before we release it to the world, you see where I'm coming from!

Having said all that, I can live with the FB, so long as there's some kind of way of measuring its success (so if it's not working, we do something else)
