I figured I'd try this again. I also think you guys need to make sure you are signed in to participate in this thread so be sure you've done that first.

First of all, Happy New Year, and I hope you all had a good holiday season!

Alright folks, so Chris and I spoke about the need to get our website up and running, and we decided it might be a good opportunity for us to try to get some activity going on here in order to try to get the website settled before we have our next meeting. He and I were looking at different packages from Squarespace. I priced out the domain name through them for $20/year, and either a personal plan for $12/month billed annually, or a business plan billed for $18/month billed annually.

Some questions we will need to answer before proceeding:
-Should we go with Squarespace?
-If so, should we go with the business or personal plan?
-Could we use Squarespace with outside hosting at a lower cost and/or with certain other benefits?
-What other options, if any, can/should we look at?

Once we get some convo here we can create a poll or two to determine some of the answers to these questions and hopefully we can get something decided this week. Once we finish that, it will simply be a matter of asking USAW to purchase it for us through our funds. Brad is checking to see if we can get recurring billing set up.

What are your thoughts?

Hey everyone, if you CAN access this, just post a comment here below to confirm. If you can access it but CANNOT comment, shoot me an email back on the thread we have going. Thanks!

EDIT: and of course, if you can access it, let's start talking details!

Maria, do you have any thoughts on what was said in the main comment for this thread? Are there alternatives you prefer to Squarespace? If not, and no one else proposes anything, we can set up a pretty quick and easy vote on either the Personal or Business package.

Here's the pricing for Squarespace.

Erik, I think squarespace is good for our needs. Was the plan to have this all in place before the next meeting?

In speaking with @chrisamenta I think we were both hoping to at least have the basic details on the package we wanted to purchase, and maybe even go through with using funds to purchase it prior to the meeting, but actually having the site up and fully functional I don't think is realistic.

Hello all,
I also think Squarespace will work for us. maybe we can try the personal plan to start. if we decide to add more features, then go with the business plan?

Definitely understand where you're coming from there. I like that we're moving this conversation forward. I would just say that the biz plan includes 3 things that make me think it might be worth the slight extra cost. One, which @chrisamenta discussed yesterday, is the professional email. We could establish an [email protected] which we could use to field inquiries and perform official communications on behalf of the board with individuals and other entities. The second, which we also discussed, is the unlimited contributors versus the limitation to 2. The final one is the announcement bar. This appeals to me as a way to allow us to promote our LWC and State Championships, as well as other events, when they occur.

Also, are you certain it would be simple to upgrade if we decided to?

On the whole I'm not opposed to the idea of at least starting with a personal site as the site should be relatively simple, but I figured I'd propose what I consider to be valid considerations before being certain we go with the cheaper option.

Sounds like it's worth it to just go for the business plan. I'm in!

I think Square Space is fine.

I would looking into a GSuite account for the LWC before using the SquareSpace feature.

We use Gsuit for the out gym and its really great. This will also allow us the use and shareablity of Sheets, Drive, Docs and more.
