How to find a mutual exchange from a housing co-op

SC Shoshanah Cohen Public Seen by 44

I live in a housing co-op in Manchester (75 flats in a low rise block) that has a three month joining process. All our meetings are online at the moment, so nobody actually needs to come to the building right now.

Our current 2 bed maisonette does not meet our needs. We need to upsize to a 3 bed for disability related reasons, so we have been overcrowded for 8 years (6 of them in our current property).

But finding a mutual exchange with a standard social housing tenant is proving impossible as they are put off by the requirements (despite the lovely building, convenient location, cheap rent, and free internet!). It's hard enough to upsize without the joining barrier too.

So we are trapped in unsuitable housing, which is having a significant negative effect on our mental and physical health and family life.

I have tried posting in all kinds of places, but not sure where to post that like-minded people would actually see it, and be interested in swapping. They don't have to be in a co-op already; I'm fine with going back to mainstream social housing.

I tried posting on a sustainable housing related forum but the admin deleted it because he said it was advertising (though their own rules implied that was just for businesses), and apparently he doesn't think the definition of sustainability includes social factors...

Does anyone have any idea where I could post that I would actually get serious interest? We need to stay in this area of Manchester (Hulme, Moss Side, Whalley Range, west Fallowfield, or maybe Chorlton), so a national group/forum probably wouldn't be that useful unless it was big enough to have people from round here on it.
