Forest gardens in the media

AK Anni Kelsey Public Seen by 79

I have just seen this post about a superb forest garden that featured at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. I have put in two links below - one from the designers and another from a forest garden enthusiast who visited the show. It is inspiring stuff!

Blimey, I'd love to know what the "Shrubs and herbaceous perennials, groundcover – £4980" is for!! Thanks for the link Anni, it's great that this is getting more widespread attention.

Hello AnniI had a wonderful holiday - thankyou, though we were pretty much confined to the shade 830-600pm because of the sun. It was about 35 degrees most of the week. The sea was wonderful though, particularly early in the morning and we had a thoroughly relaxing time with plenty of reading. I was particularly inspired by Sapiens, by Yuval Noah Harari. Do you know it? It's clear at least from him that we're on the right track!
Thanks so much for the links below. I've just got round to inviting Nic Wilson of dogwooddays and will now turn to London Glades.
We should have an exciting Autumn ahead
Look forward to seeing you in a few weeks!

Yes - well spotted Anni - there truly does seem to be a stirring out there! You might also be interested in what's happening in the USA at present as a local food summit enters its final 2 days.(Below)

I have signed up to all the presentations in case there is anything helpful to us in due course. The talk by Paul Ehrlich was incredibly strong against global food supply chains.

Looking forward to Welshpool.

I had a look at this - as an organisation you need to send them a logo to post on their website which they then link to the organisation's site. It does look like a good partner to have / work with. I have signed as an individual though.

Also whilst browsing I saw that the NHS forest was a partner organisation. I have never heard of them despite having recently worked in the NHS for 10 years. The link for them is here and also a link to what I thought was a very lovely film about what they are actually accomplishing.

I like Candala's work on Forest Garden Archetypes, see https://prezi.com/7dptebyz2ldw/forest-garden-archetypes/ It, like Tomas' great book hasn't had much media attention. Would Monty Don, Sarah Raven or George Monbiot be interested in all this work done? Bunny Guiness & Helen Dabbs have written a little about forest gardening...

These people are raising money for Edible Landscapes - the Movie. Only 6 hours left apparently. If you see this in time, please consider helping them! https://www.ulule.com/edible-landscapes-food-forest-documentary/

Forest gardens will get some exposure on BBC Countryfile tomorrow night (Sunday 28 March, 7 pm). They came to film at Queenswood Countrypark inHerefordshire just before the whole country shut down - so probably one of the last episodes in the standard format with loads of people milling about doing things together! Sneak preview: Ellie Harrison and I plant an apple guild (not dissimilar to the FG in a box!) and a balcony polyculture. You'll also see some of the amazing Queenswood volunteers, and a whole load of toads! https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000gxqg
