New Year Brunch

H HgO Public Seen by 38

As discussed during last lab, we decided to organize an informal moment on Sunday 21st January 2018, in Brussels (De Markten).

Reservation of the room is ongoing (~ 150€)

In short, the event would be in two parts :
1. Potluck-brunch
2. Drink

Details can be found in the reporting of the lab, and will be also on the wiki page of the event.

This is a purely informal event, where pirates and friends can meet and talk about whatever they want to talk ;) This can be to discover new people, rebuild the world, exchange ideas, debates, etc.

This event would be the starting point for the next GA process (6 weeks before the GA, we make an announcement so that people can send their proposals, according to the statutes).

Todo list

  1. Define the opening and closing times : 11am - 4pm
  2. Make the reservation (Hadrien) : ongoing
  3. Find a good name for the event
    • New Year Brunch
    • Brunch du Nouvel An
    • Nieuwjaarsbrunch
  4. Create the wiki page Done
    1. Translate in Dutch (and in English?)
  5. Create a pad for the potluck and registrations Done
    1. Translate in Dutch
  6. Create the event on social networks, eventbrite, etc.
  7. Send the newsletter announcing the event (December + January ?)
  8. Send the reminder a few days before the event

Ah, I like this idea ! :D In French, that would be "Brunch du Nouvel An" ;)
Maybe "Brunch Pirate du Nouvel An" ? or is it too much maybe ?

For the drinks, that would be better that everyone bring their drinks as well. I don't know if there are laws regarding parties with alcohol ?

I didn't receive a confirmation for the reservation, I'll send them a mail right way.

I didn't receive a confirmation for the reservation, I'll send them a mail right way.

They answered that they will soon process the reservation.

So meanwhile, I'd say we can already create the wiki page for the event ? I'll do that this week-end if it's not done.

Il m'ont répondu qu'ils allaient bientôt traiter notre réservation.

En attendant, je dirais que nous pouvons déjà créer la page wiki de l'évènement ? Je m'en occuperai ce week-end si personne ne l'a fait entre-temps.

Any news in the meantime? Mermaid would sell flags exceptionally at 5€ (the first 50) and I think for the website squad we can print our proposal and hang it on the wall. (with maybe pencils to be able to change it) Do you see a way to work on the newsletter / wiki page? (or do you need help?)

@josse I've just received this mail five minutes ago :

So I'd say we can start working on the newsletter and wiki page ! I'll create the wiki page today. Could you propose a short text to introduce the event in the newsletter ? (you or someone else)

For the merchandising, I'm not against this. This reminds me that in Crew BW we proposed to have a "pay what you want" box to let people contribute to the party (actually, this would help to reduce the cost of the room). But of course, money shouldn't be the main goal of this event!

With the help of @vanecx, we created the wiki page and we are working on a registration form on the wordpress site.

For now, the wiki page is only in French. We will soon need to translate it in Dutch (and maybe in English ?)

We are almost there ! We still need translations in Dutch for the wiki page, the potluck pad, and the contact form : https://pad.pirateparty.be/p/new-year-brunch-2018-translations

We can also start the newsletter. I'd say we can make it a "happy new year" newsletter (we can probably reuse the newsletter of past year) ;)

@hgo The text also says you need an assurance...

H

HgO Wed 27 Dec 2017 3:16PM

Yes, I saw that indeed ! I actually have an "Assurance en Responsabilité Civile" (Civil Liability Insurance?), but I'm not sure if this would be enough for the event (they talk about this in their rules of use : https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1lZxKcin1euom6uCcaDWimvh6UR9utIaMQt2rzXVAW50/edit)

Not sure if yours can work. Last time we booked De Markten, the asbl from the Brussels's pirates took care. Maybe you can ask @pascaldk how they did it?

Thanks ! I've just asked him. So, he strongly advises us to use an asbl for the insurance. Now, the question will be: which one ?

EDIT : There are two questions actually :
1. Do we subscribe to an insurance through an asbl (then we need to pay 27.31€). If we do not do this, then in case of an incident, everybody within the "association de fait" would be responsible, and especially me as I'm the "point of contact" for De Markten
2. Which asbl would we use ?

Patrick paid the location of the room yesterday, btw ;)
