Checklist / To do list

Before a meeting I made a list of the things we'd agreed to do and wanted the ability to allow others to check things off. Currently only the creator of the comment with a checklist can edit it and worse I seem to send out email notifications for each edit.

Similar to a poll, having a specific Checklist / To do type would be great. Ideally it would be possible to put a deadline on the checklist and to store the user who checked it off along with the timestamp. The problems I see with this are the confusion of multiple people checking (or unchecking) something. The easiest is that anyone can check and only the person who checked can uncheck (with a visible history). A more complicated version would be permissions per check, e.g.:

  • (@personA OR @anyuser) Do something

  • (@personA) Do another thing

  • (@anyuser) Do something else

This can be done with a poll but that doesn't feel like the right tool for this.

Maybe there is already something like this so sorry if I'm re-inventing the wheel.

For me allowing others to complete items on a checklist isn't the same as allowing them to edit my comment. To me, editing would be changing the text of the checklist, completing it off is a different action. In the same way completing a poll isn't seen as allowing others to edit the poll.

Our group is small, voluntary and mostly older people who don't get the techie stuff, so the simpler the solution the better.

For my purposes it would be best to allow everyone to edit the checklist. Is that an option already? No-one will want to be assigned an item and not be able to change it themselves.

We use a thread to keep the zoom meeting link for a meeting, the agenda as a proposal and then the minutes as a proposal as well. We'd like to use this checklist to record actions from the meeting.

OK we can certainly live with the checklist in the meantime. In fact I prefer the enforcement aspects to it 😉

Keeping it at the top with the context would be great. In fact just as you said.
