How can we use Timebank.org.nz

DS Danyl Strype Public Seen by 55

Timebank.org.nz currently points to a Drupal-powered website, maintained by Chris Twemlow of AllThingsWeb. Do we want to keep this site up? What purposes should it serve? What functions need to be added/ removed to facilitate those purposes?

For what its worth, in as much as this was discussed at the hui the general feeling was that the timebank.org.nz site would (continue) to serve as
- a place for information that we want to send 'out' to the general public
- a place for official information published on behalf of tbanz, for example the page which lists all the timebanks in nz
- no longer a place for internal discussions and document sharing because we seem to be hoping to use coactivate for that purpose.

As Emma put it, it's like we have a garden shed, and we want to use the right tools for the right jobs. So, we have this great tool in the existing Drupal powered website which is doing its brochure part of the job well but the discussion part less so.

I guess if the above was true we would eventually shut down the forums, but I don't see any great need to rush into that, myself.

Other than that, is Chris on here? Does anyone know how much its costing to keep timebank.org.nz hosted at allthingsweb as it is and are we keen to keep doing that and to keep supporting it in the above role (which of course means being able to update content from time to time even if the forum/discussion functions are less emphasized).

I think what Miles said and Emma is good. Timebank.org.nz is a good place for information for the general public. A place to add resources for other timebanks, once they are possibly agreed to in another collaborative format. And not so great for the forum or document sharing. I would like to make the site more dynamic, but find Drupal too confounding...so if someone is knowledgeable and could help us to clean it up a bit and make more dynamic that would be great. I'm not sure if Chris is currently in a TimeBank, as he moved from Lyttelton to Hamilton some years ago. Would we be able to invite him to this forum if he's not currently part of a TimeBank?

Invite [email protected] to join this Loomio group. Chris is the webmaster of tb.org.nz, and has been involved in Timebanking in Aotearoa since very early on. He is also a very thoughtful and moderate bloke, and would make good contributions to the discussions on the TBANZ Loomio.

Chris would be a very important voice here. Should be noted that it is www.timbank.org.nz NOT www.tb.org.nz. Perhaps you are abbreviating it, but just want to note to others if looking for that link, it doesn't exist.

I'm sure Chris will be part of a TimeBank if and when there are other people who want to help start one in his area. Considering his years of involved in Lyttelton, and with timebank.org.nz, I think it makes sense.
