I have a role in Kaipara District Council as Community & Recreation Advisor, and am a resident of Mangawhai. I spent the previous ten years at Auckland Council, in community development. was one of the Sustainability Champions, the liaison person for council with Kai Auckland and established Kai Across the Whau. I also project managed the first zero waste community night market in New Lynn. Looking forward to being part of finding sustainable solutions that work for our communities.

Kia ora koutou, my iwi are Ngāti Kuri and Te Rarawa. My background is in Policy Analysis, project management, Treaty claims settlement negotiations, law, governance (she's currently on the Board for Kaitaia College), human rights and environmental campaigning (I'm currently Co-Convenor for Aotearoa Water Action Incorporated). For several years up until April 2018, I was an iwi advisor on three technical National Iwi Chairs Forum working groups for climate change, constitutional transformation and the Monitoring Mechanism for the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. I live in Whangarei. Great to be on board! :)

Hello, my name is Linda Matson. My husband and I operate a mixed farming and horticultural business near Whangarei. I have concern for the future of our children (and theirs), our nation and indeed the planet with particular regard to irreparable damage being done to our natural environments. In agriculture and all food growing operations we need to be removing the practices which do not work in harmony with nature and are therefore unsustainable. Reducing or removing the use of synthetic fertilisers, agrichemicals and harmful animal remedies will be a great place to start but I feel it will take a much bigger systemic change as our whole agri-economy will need to adjust.

I am a firm believer in the value that can be provided to our world's population by our agricultural sector in terms of human nutrition, bio-diverse eco-systems, and the potential for carbon sequestration through beneficial natural farming systems (incorporating livestock) to have a positive influence on climate change.

The primary focus for the wider population must be on reducing waste, in particular toxic waste. I also believe that in New Zealand (as a productive, fertile, young, developing island nation) we have perhaps one of the best opportunities to create a world we can be proud of. I look forward to progressing the sentiments of the conference.

Warren Moetara Fri 22 Jun 2018 4:23AM

Kia ora, my name is Warren Moetara. My whanau are from Hokianga, I was born and bred in Kaikohe, and we have links across Ngapuhi and Tai Tokerau. I've been involved in public health for the past 14 odd years, and I'm the current Service Manager for the Public & Population Health Service of the Northland DHB. Some have called the urgent action needed to combat climate change and its impacts on health as the biggest threat to society of our times. Many have also identified Tai Tokerau as the area most at risk in light of our geographic and demographic makeup. It makes sense then for public health to be at the table as we collectively look at the actions we need to be taking. Mauri ora!

Kia ora, I live in Maunu on land where my parents and grandparents farmed. I live with Tim and we have a small avocado orchard. I work as a community development worker at One Double Five Community House. I am concerned about the effects of climate change on the lives of our children and grandchildren, especially those who have least resources to respond to major disruptions. I would like Taitokerau to develop a systematic and coordinated response to reducing greenhouse emmissions.

Olli Krollmann here. I'm a semi-retired IT professional, electric vehicle (EV) enthusiast, and advanced user of rooftop solar plus domestic energy storage. I only have a degree in common sense to offer, and I'm not an expert in any particular technology, nor am I promoting or preferring any particular drawdown solutions - it's all in the mix, and how many people start changing their ways and doing the right things, whatever their personal situation and circumstances allow them to do. Personally I'm worried that NZ might soon become the scrapyard and landfill of the planet if we as a country continue on our course of nonchalance and indifference and putting everything in the too-hard basket, and I think that Northland is uniquely positioned to become an early adopter of a sustainable and low-emissions way of life - not the stone-age way but with science and technology - and acquire new knowledge and expertise as well as generate new businesses and jobs in the process.

Kia ora. From Mata near Ruakaka Originally but with links to Te Waimate in the Far North. Currently living in Paihia where I'm Environmental Trustee on Focus Paihia Trust, Trustee on Bay Bush Action Trust and advocate for EVs via rEV-UP. I'm currently project managing EV charging station installations which have received EECA funding and we are strategically positioning them across the Far North to help enable even low range EVs to travel anywhere in the rohe.

Hi, I have moved recently to Northland from Kapiti. My wife and I are looking to lease a farm to practice Holistic Grazing Management. I run a webpage www.nzsugarfree.co.nz aimed at helping others get healthier and have developed an interest in Regenerative farming. I do talks for free in communities to help spread the word about getting sugar out of our diet, and I am looking to further this with educating about Regenerative farming using Holistic Grazing Management
