We are using "dot voting" to get your feedback on what actions areas you think are most important to do.

You have 10 dots to allocate across 13 actions areas - the more dots you allocate to a specific action, the more important you think it is.

Please write the action area title or number "X" the number of dots you have allocated to that action area.

For example Develop industry champions / CEO forum x 5; Local buy local x 3; Promote Christchurch tech career x 2 or Action 13 x 5; Action 10 x 3; Action 6 x 2.

Welcome everyone to the final part of our online discussion! We have really valued the detailed and varied input from everyone. Its also been great (and reassuring) to see the alignment between our face-to-face discussions and the online discussions.

Reviewing all your feedback we believe there are three "foundations for success" on which we can build a successful tech sector strategy for Christchurch - a good understanding of our local businesses and ecosystem; strong and deep national and international connections; and, strong local leadership and partnership.

We have identified a further 13 action areas which could contribute to achieving success. We haven't attempted to prioritise or sequence these.

We are keen to get your feedback on what you think is most important to focus on (with a 10 year horizon) to achieve the four characteristics of success. We are using "dot voting" to get a flavour of where you see relative importance. It might be that you think particular projects within these actions areas are particularly important - please highlight that in your feedback.

We would also appreciate your thoughts on anything you think is particularly urgent or that is an early, easy win.

Thank you and happy dot voting.

Hi,

Can I ask a real strange question. This seems an exceedingly low tech and time consuming way of doing a survey. Why wasn’t it just done on survey monkey with a scale rating?

Cheers

@geraldcarter - I understand your point in the context of voting. Loomio isn't really designed for this relative priority type survey. We deliberately choose a discussion forum tool because our primary objective was to enable public conversations across a diverse range of people as a way of developing and exploring ideas. This dot voting exercise is a way of temperature testing the views of participants within the context of this discussion forum.

I hear that and can still be achieved....just add a link to the survey.

  • It is impartial

  • you don’t have to spend 10 min figuring out what it is you want participants to do

  • provides instant results

  • saves immense amounts of your time, and

  • tests all concepts.
