Real Life Workshop(s)

TE Thomas Euler Public Seen by 83

I think that in order to get us working in a more coordinated fashion it'd be great to host a workshop (or several local one's) in real life.

a) what does the group think about it? And
b) would be realistic to set up an entity that can collect funds in time in order to take care of T&A as well as accommodation cost?

If you think that would be a good idea, let's find out how to make it work.

We would need to find a way to make it at low-cost. Fund it - likely via sponsoring (could we pitch it to some established players in the co-op space? @ntnsndr @tommcdonough @coopchange @chriscook1 et al.) and of course organize it. And we should move fast (say within 4 weeks)

Does that sound plausible? Any suggestions?

Yes! Lets do that! Would also be a great way to bring more interested people in

@thomaseuler1 what are the next steps to make this happen? Are you going to host one in your city?

Depending on the interest of the community and the chosen model this would be an option. Currently, I don't see a lot of feedback and discussion around this topic so I assume it's probably not a priority right now for the group.

My sense is that this would be good to have on the table at the Platform Co-op gathering in a few weeks as a potential initiative for attendees to bring home to their home communities. I'm planning on doing a #PlatformCoop reportback at my hackerspace anyway, and a buytwitter update/discussion might dovetail nicely.

@matthewcropp Sounds great. Can you provide a few more details? Where will it take place? At which date? Would be great if some members of the group could join in and host a discussion/session :)

It's the one that @ntnsndr is organizing in NYC at the New School 11/11-13. The last day is supposed to be Open Space style; I'm planning on proposing a co-op investment club session for one of the slots, but I think a BuyTwittter outreach-focused session could also be generally appealing.

Nathan, any insight into the specifics of the format?

Great idea @matthewcropp - raise a proposal?
