Here's Amy dropping off the new mindset cards yesterday:

Holding the cards was a reminder of how important prototyping is. A lot of my assumptions about the look-and-feel (especially around the glossy and the icons) shifted when I held the actual cards.

I showed the cards to @katewing last night. I wish I had thought to record her verbal reactions as she flipped through cards — lots of approving grunts and squeals. :-)

@kristincobble, good luck with your card session this week. I'm taking several decks to Wisconsin next week. As always, will report back on what I learn!

That's a happy looking Amy! Thank you for all the hard work you all have put into these. I'm excited to see how the client reacts on Friday.
Best,
Kristin

So, I decided I needed to get out of my house. The cafe is packed so I ask if I can share a table with a woman who looks at my copy of "The Speed of Trust" and says "Oh, I'm writing a course about that." This seemed like a perfect opportunity to test out the cards with Laura, transformational consultant. She looked through them delightedly for about 10 minutes and then created a four part "self assessment spread."
1. One card at the center for what she sees as the heart of the problem
2. A group of cards representing where she's at "my accountability pile"
3. A group of cards for how she thinks the other person in the problem is feeling
4. A group of "guides" - ideas to work for, behaviors to test out

I'll post photos later but she was very excited about the cards and that she might get to use them in her trainings, remix them, and help "externalize what's really going on" in a way that people can talk about.

Woohoo! I really hope you recorded her audio reactions. ;-)

Okay, taming my excitement for a second to focus on a design question: Did she (or you) note or interact with the values icons at all?

Her pile for how she thinks the other person is feeling is very similar to an exercise that @kristincobble is going to do with her client and that I — inspired by Kristin — am going to do with the Cancer-Free Economy network.

@katewing, did you get her contact information? I can get her a deck if she'd be willing to give us feedback and share her ideas on how she uses them. I'm collecting the latter into a book of "card games." And of course, please point her to our homepage and this forum!

Thank you so much for playing these in public! :-)

I do have her contact info.

I pointed out the icons as an afterthought and she mentioned them. Personally, I think they're confusing as a list at the bottom. If they were along the side of the card so you could more easily match like with like, they might add more/make it easier to sort & cross-reference.

Could you sketch and share what you're thinking? I'm having trouble visualizing.

Look at these cards from 7 Wonders. See how the icons sit at the top and right so you can stack them & sort easily by category - swords, stones, flasks, etc.

Thanks Kate! No image attached, but I googled 7 wonders and I think I get what you're saying, that it would be easier to sort if the icons were on one edge.

Ok, I tried making some. See if Loom.io will take these images.

I like it!

(So odd, I could see the images in the email update but not here on in the discussion thread? Is there a toggle images button that I'm not seeing??)

I'm not seeing it here or on the email updates, but I also Googled 7 Wonders and also think I understand what you're suggesting.

And, it looks like I'm going to have to file a Loomio bug report.
