Recording of CAN session Dec 7th + a CAN resource page

M Maria Public Seen by 21

Hi everyone,

Thanks for another very resourceful conversation this Monday.

For those of you who missed it, here's the link to watch the recording of the session:https://us02web.zoom.us/rec/share/vRxQGh6QtXK95X43YYVFx9AKftC0nSbO3cl9CAm40P-Ne5i6Z6H3In6krV_niVKR.zheebaQ7PifavBOePasscode: wMG7&Hp6

I've also put together (the beginning of) a CAN resource page. Initially just to gather the links to all the great work that has been shared in our calls and here on Loomio thus far but ideally we'd develop it further to include practical methods/tools/models/guides.

A Goggle doc is just an easy place to start but I'm sure there are sites/online tools much more suited for this. Please comment with your ideas.

If enough people are keen we can - as it was suggested in another thread - put together a CAN development group to work on this.

Also please feel free to add to the document, I'm sure there are things I missed.

Next CAN session - the last one of 2020 - will be on the Monday the 21st of December.

See you then!

Maria

Thanks I'll work on that and check in with Phil on handbook ideas.
Do you want anything on mapping or other items?
Have you used a Whiteboard on a call ... using postits for ideas?

Not yet. Please feel free to do so - and we’ll record and share too.

@Indra, @Maria, @Phil - confirming - would you like me to pull together first ideas for the handbook, so it can be mentioned in the invite? Does the invite go out tomorrow? We might do:

  • Intro from Indra on how a handbook would pull together work so far, and give us a focus for future development?

  • Indra/Maria on the key ideas we need to cover ... the framework for a CAN. Drawing on Maria's doc?

  • A first outline of what the handbook might cover - developed by us all from discussion so far. I can pull together.

  • Depending on numbers, breakout rooms around some of the challenges, as mentioned earlier.

Then use chat, Google doc or whiteboard to capture (to discuss before Monday). At this stage I think we are just scoping out and gaining insights into what might be possible, and a first gathering of ideas. Then we can plan a development process in more detail.
We might also haver an update from Coalville, where we have started to look at mapping

Hi David, thanks for this and your earlier reply. All looks good to me.

Thanks David and Phill for your insights and suggestions. I think the agenda looks great David... @Indra Adnan? I won't give too much detail in the invite email that goes out tomorrow morning but will refer to this conversation. I think the google doc, the chat box and the recording of the call will be sufficient to capture the conversation at this stage but based on that I can create a Miro whiteboard which we then can build on going forward... What do you think?

Thanks Maria - I agree, keep it brief and simple. I’ve started going through your links and there is so much great A/UK thinking, plus many references. We need to unpack and organise that as a framework so we are pointing the right way. More thoughts on that later. Yes go ahead with the invite as suggested, from my perspective.

@maria @indra - should we have a new thread for Creating a CAN ... or Developing a guide/handbook? I'm reading past blogs etc and will have ideas about structure and content that might be helpful for Monday's call.

Yes good idea. If you write a concise description there we will be able to invite people in to focus on this specifically

How about Indra/Maria posts something like this - perhaps with details of Monday's call? Then I and others can follow on
Developing a guide for Citizen Action Networks
This is a space to discuss development of a user guide to creating Citizen Action Networks, which we'll start with the call on Monday December 21. Earlier discussion here. We'll revisit some of the key ideas already developed on this site, referenced by Maria in this resource document, and start thinking about what should be in a guide.

Thanks David - you welcome to start a new thread anytime, it doesn't have to come from me or Indra, actually it's great if many different people initiate conversations.

I do intend to start a new thread next week sharing the recording/material from Monday's call, perhaps then there will be more for people to engage with / respond to?
