Constitution amendment: add human rights to basic principles

PP Pirate Praveen Public Seen by 390

Add the following as first section of basic principles.

"Human beings have innate value. Rights of every human being is described in Universal Declaration of human rights. We will fight to ensure these rights are not denied to anyone."

If you have better wording, suggest it.

good wording. since Human Rights are already defined in the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" by UN, there's no need to redefine them in our Constitution, a reference to it will do. one suggestion is to include this link to the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" in the above statement.

I think what's important is how you interpret human rights too. The Right to free speech i.e art 19 (1) (a) is not the same as let's say the second amendment of the constitution of the United States. I think we should draft our own rights bill and add it to the pirates constitution, if you guys agree with it I could provide a draft and everyone can review / call for amendments? It has to be broad and at the same time easy to understand for the common man.

@akhileshjamdar lets go ahead with this wordings for now as we don't have anything explicit about human rights in basic principles now. Once we finalize our own "bill of rights", we can update the constitution then. So go ahead and come back with a draft.
