small updates to osmuk.org web site

JN Jez Nicholson Public Seen by 278

I updated the Google Maps article so that it doesn't refer to 11 June in future terms. Tweaked the https://osmuk.org/quarterly-projects/ to refer to the current project and added the OpenCage interview.

Biggest change was putting some words for https://osmuk.org/professional-services/

I would suggest that some of the CIC pages go under 'About OSM UK' in a single page with the aims, how we operate, and the list of Directors. I would also add the roles that Directors have taken on.

I didn't understand what the 'Use OSM' page was for and https://osmuk.org/use-osm/ as opposed to 'Get Help'....maybe it is 'Use OSM [Data]'?

I only added the quarterly project page the other day! My reason for not referring to the specific project was page staleness. I'm not confident I'll be on top of keeping it up to date. But we can try!

P.s. whilst anyone can edit the wiki, our site requires granting permission. I feel we should link to relevant wiki pages where we can.

Agreed....but some relevance is good. Quarterly isn't that frequent and you've got me to assist now. If it gets stale then it can easily go back.

Sure.

Regarding your other question, I will upload the web plan doc when next at my laptop.

Broadly:

About OSM: Focus is on the OSM project, it's ecosystem and the whole community. Obviously i need to make updates to make this clearer.

Contribute: basic guides and pointing people in the direction of other sources. I have a half written page and need to complete that.

Use: should be about accessing and using OSM data.

Get help: places to ask for help if the previous 2 haven't pointed you in the right direction.

C.I.C: the company, minutes, etc.

I purposefully don't want to merge the CIC bit with the About bit as we have a whole world of OSM outside of our CIC and I want to show this.

In effect, from left to right it should be:

  1. Here is OSM, and its existing community and ecosystem.
  2. Here is how to contribute.
  3. Here is how to use OSM and OSM data.
  4. Here is links to more help.
  5. We have a legal structure. Here's our minutes, etc.

I agree that the CIC bits will appear in multiple places. We need to weave it through whilst respecting those within OSM ecosystem outside of the CIC.

Hopefully all will become clear with the planning doc.
