Process - Enhancing our cooperation

FB Fabio Balli Public Seen by 222

In the last weeks, there have been lots of discussions on different channels. Some affilates left the discussion.

In order to build a sense of belonging and intimacy, I believe that we need to set time to get to know each other better, learn about each other's project, and build a group (instead of an assembly of individuals).

My proposition is to address this with the goal of
- ensuring holoptism (the ability for any member to have knowledge of what the others are doing)
- enabling a group dialogue with minimal relevant information (reducing the noise)

Oops, somehow I did not get that Frederic was proposing an email newsletter. That is doable.

But I'll still revive the old web page, and then people can suggest improvements. Could be a starting point for email newsletter contents.

@lynnfoster I am not sure of what is possible or not with the NRP, but it seems that Bob has an idea...

The newsletter might work also, but I would think it would be difficult to come up with an automatically-generated newsletter, so this will require someone to write the newsletter every week (or every so often).

And I really think it would be nice to see a brief list on the web site, so any visitor can immoderately see on overview of what is going on.

@bobhaugen @lynnfoster
there seems to be some time-lapse in communication....

@fredericdurville and all: an automatically-generated email newsletter is doable.

I think it would be best to start with web pages, because we already got a starting point. And we can refine that into the content for a newsletter.

We also got a framework for sending email notifications. The biggest problem I can see is who to send the newsletter to automatically, which is probably solvable. We don't want to end up spamming anybody.

Thanks for contributing !

I feel that using a newsletter, audio or NRP would require more to do where the idea is to do less (ref: in pursuit of elegance). :-)

Should'nt the focus be on seing each other's eyes, hearing our voices and adjusting in a more spontaneous way (with simple rules to be constructive and keep it short) ?

@fabioballi - maybe this the wrong thread for the newsletter topic, but I did revive the old page that might be a basis for it, and wanted to report back.

Don't take this as the end of the story, I just revived what was there a long time ago, and you will want something more or less and different. I'm sure Fabio is correct, at least for people in Montreal, that the main thing is face-to-face and personal. But for those who are not in Montreal, if you like the idea of either that Today page and/or the newsletter, maybe we can continue that conversation either in email or on the github issue.

Good point @fabioballi . And great cartoon! Perhaps more than one channel for people with different needs and levels of connection?

Looks like we can't make another proposal in this thread. But I propose a weekly lab/google hangout (or other technology ideas welcome!).

We could start with that, and also work in parallel towards a newsletter type thing (improved NRP view with email notification or maybe just an email thread or.... ?).

All options are open. :) I am for a weekly hangout.

For me, the challenge is to have a sense of belonging in the network. Thus, it should not be about Montreal.

In https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kGyHNaDVPLbQX1QSsbzyHLoJgKc1NKgn6qEYs1P05O0, there are 51 active affiliates. How much of us know, let's say 15 of them ?

I think we can build a dynamics so that existing affiliates take actively part to the network. I do believe our projects are interesting enough to have people committing to them, giving from themselves, building on them.

According to me, we will have reached cooperation when we all will know each other, and when we individuall will answer the same to the question "what is Sensorica's mission ?".

What would be the goal you see in regard to cooperation ?

Side comment: I really appreciate the much higher level of active conversation in Sensorica recently. Starting to become a lot more genuinely democratic.

Would you take part to a weekly online gathering ? Closed Sun 20 Sep 2015 9:07PM

Commitment, if ok, next proposal would be about "game rules".
