One function Loomio doesn't include (at least not yet) is calendar for in-person events. www.indymedia.org.nz is an open-publishing news site where anyone can set up an account, publish news, and list events, and I encourage everyone to publish the details of upcoming public events there.

Are there other websites or online services folk use to invite the public to events?
