Debate and decide on which tools we should be using for communicating amongst the community.

Can discord be kept for voice communication for people who want to be at meetings but aren't there physically

Are we resorting to email for private communication?

I don't see Loomio as a replacement for Discord, we still need somewhere synchronous (that others will see ASAP) for discussing random things. For example if you're the last one at home and you're about to head out for the day and you want to ask someone to put the bins out for you, why would you want that cluttering up Loomio?

yes that is a point but it could be done as a private chat so it wouldn’t clutter LifeBubbles? The lack of notifications apart from email is an issue - any way to get text notifications instead of email Sam?

there are almost no decisions that we are going to make as a community that have no resource implications. Refining a standardised convention in Loomio to capture the effort and $ & natural resources and making a Project resources template that any one wanting to suggest a project can use will empower us to think a project through and come to the discussion phase with more clarity and a resource template we can all share and have meaningful input to before we vote on it. What about I do a demo over in Loomio for the work I have been doing today on working bee prep for the 5th jan ??

@deancameron I think a costing template is a great idea, is this what we have already discussed briefly in Discord and agreed to implement here? https://trello.com/c/2o8K8Fk0/25-set-up-cost-estimate-system-for-new-trello-jobs

wow! just came across The http://taskjuggler.org/. Its free and has export and import to & from freemind it has resource tracking, gantt tracking and does include hour worked and a lot of other stuff. I really think Sam, Tom, Sun, Rod & Monique should take a look and evaluate it. To export a task node from freemind you just go to export and go down to task juggler

Sounds like something worth exploring, can you have a go at creating a job in ELF management to evaluate it and start with assigning to yourself? Then we can create a list of features we want to check off and you can research whether it will serve our needs.

False alarm - having installed Ruby and the taskjuggler I think it is too arcane to be very useful even though it does appear to be powerful. There is no GUI - all has to be entered using text editor from what I can see and tutorials are really obscure and hard to follow if you are not a geek. I'm going to go with your suggestion Sam and just use a simple spreadsheet to cost out tasks and small projects. I cant see a problem with ELF being composed of a series of small projects.

The best way to juggle tasks is by typing arcane text commands into a termnial, didn't you know? haha
