J'aimerais voir dans quelle mesure je peux déplacer le VPS (un CX20) actuellement utilisé pour le site web des pirates sur le compte Hetzner des pirates au lieu du mien.

En ayant accès, on pourra plus facilement administrer des petits VPS. Une fonction que j'apprècie sont les snapshots qui facilitent la notion de «backup» avant de faire une grosse mise à jour ou l'installation d'un truc «risqué».

Oui je sais ... on pourrais faire tout ça sur un serveur dédié ... mais c'est tellement plus facile par rapport à nos besoins actuels! :sweat_smile:

The new web server (CX20) for pirateparty.be WordPress site have been moved to Hetzner.

The bill will increase for 8€ / month if I'm right ... until we delete the 60€ / month «old» server (EX4S).

First, I propose to set up another CX20 for the wiki, check if we can delete the old EX4S machine and spare 40€ at the end.

• 2 x CX20 = 16€ / month instead of 1 x EX4S = 60€ / month once the work is done. It will leave us the possibility to set up some other CXxx for different purpose (forum? ...).

Any comment, advise, remark is welcome.

If we are not in a hurry, maybe we could discuss this in details during the Pirate Lab ? :) What you propose sounds good to me, tho ^{^}
Just one question : What if we want to add a diaspora* pod ? Should we buy a third CX20 for this, or not ? I'm not sure to understand why we need two CX20 :sweat_smile:

One VM, one ip, one «service», two snapshots for a CX20, ... easier to upgrade (software and «hardware»), manage, handle, transform ... and yes in that way ... one other VM for a pod.

For 8€ the VM (CX20) we can have 7 CX20 for 56€. It's 60€ for the EX4S.

And I personally do not care about the «challenge» to build an unmaintainable bidule on top of one host. :dromedary_camel:

So, we forgot to talk about the servers during last lab. Could you tell me what services are still on the old server (EX4S) ? Regarding your proposition to have one server by service, I'm not sure whether this is a good idea or not, because I don't have much experience in this domain (I'm not admin sys). @zefredz what are your thoughts on this ? :)
