Sub groups that are easier to join

Both of these would make life ever so much easier! :D

@joshuavial, the functionality mentioned in your first request already exists - you can now add a user to a subgroup without them being a member of the parent.

Thanks @joshuavial I totally agree. Currently the privacy settings conflate finding, joining, viewing and participating. We're going to pull them apart for greater clarity and more configuration options.

One thing I'd like to mention is that currently in Loomio subgroups are being used for two separate things:

1. Differentiating between groups of people
2. Differentiating between different categories of content

So you may the "Core Members" and another subgroup called "Feature ideas". Core members is a group of people, Feature ideas is a category for specific types of discussions.

Personally I think using subgroups for categories like "Feature ideas" isn't ideal. It's the best we have at the moment, but really we should have categories that belong to the parent group that you can filter discussions by.

This would mean you wouldn't have to join a separate group just to make sure the post is going in the right place. You could just post the discussion in the parent group, and then file it in the appropriate category.

@jonlemmon I think your groups of people vs. categories of content isn't as distinct as you make out. I could restate the same information in the reverse way:

'Feature ideas' is a group of people interested in talking about features. 'Core members' is for a particular kind of content.

absolutely for the second... the first is a little more complex.
