I hope we are doing well and have created this thread to discuss the reduction in content recently and start the process to get the co-operative active again.

As you may have noticed since my resignation from Editorial our content has dried up considerably. At the time Leo believed he could continue to keep the publication going alone but he is incredibly busy and has been unable to do so. Therefore, so we continue to present value to our members I think it is critical we hire a new editor to replace me and get the co-operative publishing content and growing again. I have not left the co-operative so am always on hand to help but with my new job I can no longer play the role I once had.

I propose we hire a new editor, using some of our reserves to pay a decent wage (London Living wage perhaps) for a set number of hours a week. The New Editor would be responsible for sourcing and editting new content as well as networking within the co-operative sector and growing our membership. This role would be continued to be supported by Leo, in his unpaid editorial role. I believe we would not be able to hire a new editor on my previous salary (which was around £10 a month and left time only for me to edit (not source content or continue to market the co-operative as I would like) and it would be beneficial to expand this role because it'll lead to growth that we were struggling to achieve in the old setup.

I would like to hold a vote to see if members agree with this decision and open up discussion to how significant we want the role to be and how much it should pay (Bearing in mind our economic situation) and how to move forward. I am happy to oversea this recruitment process if members want me to.

Mutual Interest is an incredibly promising co-operative and want it to continue to publish high quality content on the co-operative sector and beyond. We do have 1 article in pending so the 4 month break will be broken soon.
