Groups able to "JOIN" other Groups or Communities

Make a group or a community of a particular interest been able to add another communities or groups in contact or collaboration of news and interaction with others
groups or communities (by teh way not sure why facebook make differences from groups and communities anyway...the point is that in fb for example you canno't make a group "been part" of another group.. so is very hard to share interests in between groups or communities

for example, I have created a community to keep the world and the interested people informed on news related to teh 3D BioPrinting .. and I would like it could evolve into a sort of "club" where other groups could join .. like the concept of "corporations".. so groups doing research in that area could see the news are posted in that other community or group page..

not sure if this could figure out a graphical concept of the dynamic ??

It's important to delineate the difference between groups and hashtags. (Such as, what would a group give us that a hashtag doesn't already?) Groups are more than a collection of posts around the same topic. Most of my experience with social network groups has been from Google+, but I've used Facebook's groups a little, too. To me, a group should have

  1. Members. A group can be either public or private. If the group is public, anyone can see the group's posts. If it is private, only members can see the posts.
  2. Admins. Some members of the group have the power to moderate it: they have the power to delete posts and kick members out of the group.

This looks like it would be a pretty big project, which is probably why nobody's tackled it yet. (Many moons ago, there was a D* developer named Pistos who was running a fork that had "groups", but they were extremely embryonic. They didn't add much beyond what hashtags do already, IIRC. I don't even know if their fork is still floating around. I might try to dig it up on Github, for curiosity's sake.)
