Board Meeting 22 September Change meeting frequency

AR Andrew Reitemeyer Public Seen by 242

We are achieving quorum in 1/2 of our scheduled meetings. Shall we meet then once a month formally in Mumble? This would require an uptick in our use of Loomio and perhaps informal Mumble meetings on specific subjects scheduled to suit those attending.

I support this change in meeting frequency.

"We are achieving quorum in ½ of our scheduled meetings."

and there is no excuse for that

"Shall we meet then once a month formally in Mumble?"

i suggest once a week (as a way to increase the activity)
if board members can't attend meetings in specific days then we have to provide more options (or days) to join the mumble-meetings
"once a month" will decrease activity (in my opinion)
it's better to find out appropriate date&time then "managing rules"

Hello, I am collecting data for my research, so Im on the field Sept, Oct & Nov, so is difficult for me to always have reliable internet connection. Is easier through loomio or mail for me right now. If we have a monthly (or bi-montlhly meeting) but the dates are known well in advance, then I can try to be near internet those dates. Do we have a calendar or somewhere where I could see future meeting's schedules? Hopefully per month? I make one? Also that we don't meet in mumble doesn't mean we are not active! Im much more efficient reading and writing, and in the past I experienced some panic issues with Skype meetings. So Mumble does also require a bit of courage from my part, which I'm willing to do as long as I can plan and prepare with weeks in advance, at least for the remaining of the year.

2Karla: we can create something like "Financial Committee" on loomio, because PPI-members have a right to be inform on what's going on: about PPI bank accounts and other finance things.
About overall activity: some things are more easy to discuss on mumble, and sometimes we have a "quick ideas" and need a "quick votes".
It's also a question of quorum and following the Statute.
And it's also question of transparency of PPI-activity, we have our mumble meeting reports on wiki, but there are no loomio-reports. Our mumble-activity is more visible and sometimes people (which are not a members of the board) want to join our mumble-meeting to dicsuss sometihng, so i believe that we have to be active in mumble, it's quite useful even if we have nothing to report.
Btw, not so many people know about this loomio group.

Yes, I'm not advocating for only one channel, I'm just saying diversity could be a strength. And there are ways to keep transparency through writing, in my opinion, but I always try to adapt to whatever the majority agrees on, so, whatever the majority wants is fine. I will try to be on the Mumbles again.

Also, I thought that somebody had already created a Financial Committee on loomio, no?

Meeting first Tuesday of the month Closed Sun 4 Oct 2015 2:07PM

Hello guys,

As somebody proposed earlier, maybe we can try having the Mumble meetings once per month, at least until things start to pick up again? Also, it would really be helpful for me to have a fixed monthly date, I believe it was Richard whom first proposed that.

So, first Tuesdays of the month?

At the last meeting we decided to keep the two weekly separation but having the first and third Tuesday would make it easier to remember. So I am voting for this as replacing a strict two week schedule.

2Karla: we have have no "Financial Committee" group here
http://wiki.pp-international.net/PPI_Minutes_2015-07-28
we have standing committee "on PPI budget, oversight, transparency, finances and fund raising", but no loomio group for that. I remember that previous board created MailList for committees but nobody using that mailList, because it's not a good way for having discussions.
I think we have to create loomio group for each committee.

There is a finance group in loomio - I just noticed it had the wrong privacy settings
