Give us a "dislike" functionality
While everyone can "like" a posting, no one can "dislike" it. This is a bit sad. How to react to, let's say, "news: 100 people died"? I feel a bit worried about "liking" it as I would on Facebook.
I know this has been discussed in the bugtracker for a long time, but the community is still waiting for a solution. I can't see anything that would decline a "dislike" item (except "we're all in a happy wonderland here" which might fit a kindergarten but not a social network). :-)
Also, as Facebook doesn't have Dislike, a lot of malware has evolved, promising to add that but spying users instead. Maybe another good reason to include a Dislike link by default.

As the previous speakers already said: I don't think, that a uncommented dislike would help anyone. Perhaps it's better to rename the "Like" button or leave the author the choice of Feedback (between "Important", "Like", "Beautiful", "Nice", ...)

I dislike the dislike button AND I dislike the like button. But that is only my opinion.

If we really like to improve the (dis)like feature, we need to talk about a more formal definition of rankings, "liking things" and seperation of content/posts/emotions/...

That will give the persons a bad feeling.

I'd rather see a +1 and a -1 button. There's too much emotional investment in "Like" and "Dislike".

Naah, I'd rather like to see some kind of Thanks-for-Sharing alternative/reformulation. Both like and dislike are very emotionally loaded.

We need to change the like thing. Maybe make a "interests me" button.
