Patrick Public Seen by 352

Micro grants for sponsoring local chapter startups; Process or mentorship for program(s) to move forward; Need for the program logistically, and process of root-plans for startup and self-sustainability from day 1. AND etc, I just wrote stuff, please choose a time, and we will develop the idea further. thanks!

  1. Levels of Support (by deployment-type).
  2. Term of Support
  3. System (State or otherwise that may impede).

Project:Micro grants for sponsoring local chapter startups

This is a conceptual request, We are not asking for funds this round. We hope this proposal will allow us to structure a direct request.

  1. We expect this conversation to begin an “pseudo-on-boarding process” as we are volunteers. Regardless, we Volunteer to make you more effective at volunteering. We believe this is the first step in working towards a badging, mentoring, and easily-accessible reference system that is available to anyone who wishes to help, and allows those who wish to go further to have many paths that will continue in this structured manner. Mentoring will be based towards badging, 3d-printing, & potential paths others have taken in their research. This should be done in the best way to include privacy and standards set forth based on age guidelines (again this is all pre-draft, thus, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If we add work with no benefit after having first studied and such, then, we make the evaluation. We think it’s badass, that’s we we are writing this! (Patrick said this crass curse. All me).

  2. Estimate of Work is branched off into here.

    1. Using the already built foundation we hope to direct towards a “mentor & Intro” concept for people who may want to learn more, or who may want to further development research and furtherance of community research.
  3. The timeline for this project will be 2 stages:

    1. 1 stage “2-part of pre-draft & Proposal”
    2. Whatever we build upon from this concept.
  4. Responsibility will be allocated to those showing initiative and commitment. The pre-draft is this draft.

  5. No funding is being requested. If the interest and skillset is available we will be turning this into a proper proposal with the communities input. This will involved variables that I do not know, that is why we have these fancy meetings. Eventually stuff gets done, trust me, I do not live in a box. How would I charge my laptop? But we will do this as a team! If you know anyone in a box, or worse situation, give them a hug, some food :).

  6. From what I understand “Jon runs shit”. I haven’t questioned it, no need, not ever coming up. Do as ya’ll see fit, but he hasn’t asked me to leave yet. Marco will have to fill
in Marco’s section. Patrick is, well, as above, they haven’t asked me to leave yet.

All of this was from Jeremy's initial template, the following is direct "copy and paste". Thank you!

Ownership of work products

In the spirit of the e-NABLE community, any work products resulting from a funded project will be considered open source and available for anyone to use. Please be prepared to share your work so others may benefit from your results.

To Submit a Project Proposal

To submit a project proposal, go to the main E-nablio page on Loomio and click the New Decision button, then select Proposal. Copy and paste the template content below and provide the details for your proposal. Set the voting duration to at least one week (preferably longer) to allow sufficient community input.

Project Approval

Each project proposal must receive at least 15 votes with at least 80% of the votes in support of the project in order to be approved. This number of required votes may increase in the future, as participation in this process grows stronger.

To be approved, both criteria (minimum number of votes and percentage support) must be met. For example, if a proposal has 20 "Agree" votes and 10 "Disagree" votes, that would meet the minimum number of votes, but it would not meet the required percentage (since only 66.7% of the votes are in support of the project). In this case, the project would not be approved.

Its funny, I was just thinking the same thing about mentorship!
Perhaps we can round up volunteers to guide new chapters through the ropes?

Patrick Mon 25 Jun 2018

If we had "Scouts" without "Scout Leaders" our parking lot football games would have been literally civil wars. Mentors are not an idea, they are mandatory. That's my view at least.

Patrick Mon 25 Jun 2018

Seriously, all wounds, no scars. That's how a Scout Master does business haha!

Jon Schull Mon 25 Jun 2018

Choose a time: how? You wrote stuff: where?

Patrick Mon 25 Jun 2018

Pardon, this is my first (non-draft, well intended) Loomio proposal. 1. I will add a Poll. 2. The entirety is "stuff" but I aim to use Jeremy's template to have this drafted by Wednesday thus we can vote by Friday or Sunday.

Yes, I'd like to 'attend' (most of) these meetings but need to get it on my calendar.

What's the link? (Or is a new one posted every week? If so, can I "subscribe"?)

Thanks! 🖖😎

Yes we can certainly discuss this at a meeting. @jeremysimon does the scheduling. We can devote the full hour. I will be back from my travels on Aug 1. Perhaps we could have the meeting at 11am EST Aug 3.

re 'From what I understand “Jon runs shit”.'
This is not true.

Jon shovels shit into the garden so things can grow well. It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it ;-).

I like the "mentor and onboard" idea as part of the funding process.

I also think we should have some guidelines and best practices as part of the process. I recently jotted down some notes on this while thinking about how to make e-NABLE.org more useful. (see below). the Guidelinesdocument would include the results of the deliberations happening here....

e-NABLE.org does not aspire to be a slick, high volume frequently updated website (like, e.g.,ETF or http://e-nable.org/social-stream). It does aspire to provide guidance to all things e-NABLE, and host utilities that span the ecosystem (including a Guidelines document for chapters,

As the Guidelines Document would explain,

  • everything on -NABLE.org would be opensource, attribution, share-alike

  • We would expect and encouraged other chapters and websites to host derivative
variations, translations and remixes on their own websites, provided that they include the* phrase "derived from

  • Each definitive page would include links to remote variations that honor the above request.

  • Each definitive page would include a form field inviting suggested contributions, updates, and corrections (including links to remote variations that do or do not honor the Guidelines.

  • Chapters which have subscribed to, and adhere to the guidelinew sould be listed in the Guidelines document.

Marco Vaquera Tue 17 Jul 2018

Agree with the above.

Patrick Tue 17 Jul 2018

Jon, I have never seen guidelines, I am so happy you responded! This is why I want to do GOOD research! I will read this In depth as you clearly put in effort into this. Thank you SIR! This is why I am here! rainy day = solved! You need any "shit"? My rabbit has the best. This is a real garden to garden offer. BACK TO RESEARCH!

Patrick Wed 18 Jul 2018

Excellent, Marco and I will be working on this. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read. Please keep this thread for as to see how this "madness" works? I actually work, theres method to madness, thank goodness Marco is leading. Thanks again!
