FOSS4G sponsorship placement

We are host of foss4g, rather than sponsors. This may be confusing to those attending (especially those who have not heard of OSGeo before).
We have an email request from Max to "ask the board to remove OSGeo from the sponsor list!".

In the interests of time I am making a motion to "Ask the BLOC to remove OSGeo from the sponsors list"; since this is the board acting the request will be for Venka to send Michael a polite email.

This motion did not attract any support from the board; while the discussion is fine for next year, we do not want to distract the already hardworking BLOC with this request.
Being listed as a gold sponsor does not accurately capture our relationship as host of the foss4g event.
Motion to: Contact the FOSS4G local organizing committee and politely request the OSGeo logo be removed from the list of gold sponsors.

Removing the logo will clarify our relationship with the foss4g event.

I'm ok with asking for a change of the website. But we shouldn't require changes to printed material so late in the process ... it's stressful for our volunteers and not the end of the world ...

I don't think removing the logo from sponsorship will clarify the relationship. Instead that will discourage the BLOC team which showed their good intentions. And I don't think removing logo will lead to constructive outcome.

The BLOC has updated the website, using a nice new logo from the website/rebranding.

I am concerned with the board immediately stepping in here. Can I get a sanity check that this is our role, or is it something that should be handled by the conference-committtee?
Use of our branding in appropriate manner is of course important, but I do not want to interfere with a contract that the conference committee has setup.
