Redesign of NRP

MF Maria Frangos Public Seen by 227

We have talked about improving the user experience of the NRP. I have committed to putting in some time to this project and want to know who else is interested in working with me? I bring design/UI/UX skills and a background in product design in a digital environment.

Yay Maria! Lynn and I have already committed to work with her if she can organize a task force of users to collaborate. Maria is also thinking of new names, so you can change that, too. (For the software, not for Maria...;-)

I'd also like to add that we could go ahead and make improvements in 2 different ways: address immediate needs via page by page improvements and take a holistic approach by reorganising the navigation and rethinking the UI.

Please also take the geo domain into account.

Hey @jonrichter - we're somewhat on top of it. Could be more, but it is part of the picture now.

@mariafrangos To @jonrichter 's point, I think we should not get much into Location in this UI improvement effort. I hope the way to go is to keep working on the vocab and Open App side so that eventually when you want to see locations in NRP, it goes to a TransforMap view, or that type of thing, many details TBD. No need to recreate wheels if some exist.

So this is a small input into our scoping when we get there.

Yes, I knew the NRP interface.Of course we are aiming for decentralized interfaces.

But then we also have to talk about identity (authentication and authorization) and decoupled content viewing & editing interfaces. Currently there is no standardized read-write-geo-API out there. LDP could be a starter.

It would be interesting if one could even decouple the several views of the NRP application, in so http://nrp.sensorica.co/accounting/inventory/ ( http://nrp.sensorica.co/accounting/inventory/ ) could be served from a generalized interface like https://inventaire.io/ ( https://inventaire.io/ )

@mariafrangos OK if I move this to the Sensorica group? (My fault, I started things in the wrong place a while ago.)

@jonrichter feel free to follow it over there if you like; although it probably will be pretty Sensorica specific. But yes it would be good to talk more about the details of the TransforMap / NRP connections at some point! So we are taking the geo domain into account properly... :) And your point about separating off NRP inventory is also very interesting. We have talked about some day splitting up NRP to fit more with the tiny app / open app paradigm. Or maybe this fits in more with the vocab effort, that would be a great place to start.

No problem @lynnfoster - go ahead and move it.
