Introduce yourself to TEZA

SJ Sophie Jerram Public Seen by 30

Hi everyone. The Loomio designers have seen the TEZA brief and are going to join us as part of the TEZA project, which is terrific for our sense of community. Immediately they suggested we set up the TEZA Loomio group! So I'm setting up the group even tho' we haven't yet got a focus for discussion on it yet. For those who haven't used Loomio before, this can be a good learning opp.

What is to say is that on March 1st, Mark and I delivered another CNZ application on Friday for a Christchurch event, namely looking at a late October encampment with 7 art project and several supporting events and people. More to come.

Hi,
I'm Tim Barlow from Wainuiomata in Wellington. I've been working with Letting Space and TEZA over the last year. I hope I can use my experience in film production and art installation work to assist in the creation of a physical space for TEZA in Christchurch later in 2013 (October). Of course it may not end up as a physical space! but I'm going to float some ideas here. I want to offer my skills in building temporary structures. I'm interested in building spaces that might work for a
bicultural/multicultural experience. I'm also interested in being in involved in how TEZA might involve marginalised areas like Kiapoi or Shirley. Maybe TEZA can have a mobile whare, that can move, expand and park up in lots of situations? I'm working on the idea of a tent like space that folds out from a truck/trailer that is insulated/warm/inviting and has potential to move around.
What do people think?. I want to travel to Christchurch from Wellngton in the next couple of weeks to approach some truckies etc to see if we can get some support!

Hi Tim and JG

mmmm...'floating ideas' and 'inflatables' and I'm thinking of the Estuary where winds can come in from all directions. Shall we tack a bit more to the East?

Thanks JG and Michelle,
Great links thanks JG. You know I love inflatables and once built a 40metre diameter dome in South Africa out of ordinary PE clear plastic, just sellotaped together! However theres something about their fragility that makes them seem precarious, perhaps good show pieces but not that practical. I really like the micro-habitat idea! attached to a trailer. Thanks, I'll think on that idea, Also the idea of circulating warm air through a cavity in the structure like Rabowich's inflatable attached to random HVAC outlets in the street. Maybe this can be done with simple 12volt heating air blowers/ anyone heard of anything like this?

I'm just getting used to this great Loomio platform, so it seems that I should start a separate discussion so as not to hijack the 'introduce yourself to TEZA' one. I'll start a 'physical space for TEZA' discussion, hope to continue there!

Thanks Tim. Just in terms of introductions I think its worth mentioning just links. In terms of where Sophie and I have come from with Letting Space and our own backgrounds you're find Aout Us and About Letting Space profiles at the LS homepage www.lettingspace.org.nz. Its really great to see some really fertile discussion going on post what was such an amazing opening discussion at the Physics Room. As Richard urges please do feel very free to open new subject discussions to aid your areas of interest
