Welcome Area - Visitors are welcomed by our Bionic Art Student (Robot) we all contribute to its development and continue from now and continue developing throughout the week long event. The Bionic Art Student will also be used as a conversation piece for opening up debate about the 'Arts Student of the Future' - what are the future attributes, can technology make art education more accessible, are arts students leading the digital revolution/industry or being led by digital revolution/industry? How will technology change creativity and creative learning, how far can creativity be automated? Etc.

Hi Guys,
Shall we do a mock hologram of a talking student robot that welcomes people to the event. All groups are invited to participate in its making/filming. The robot gives a sentence on each area of activity ( words taken from the incubator activity description to be submitted to Tate for their programme listing).
The robot then invites the guests to pick up a short questionnaire (only up to 3-4 questions) from the table with them. They are then invited to go and see and enjoy the exhibition in the two incubators and then afterwards go to the lounge area where these questions are being discussed. (These questions address the 'Art Student of the Future' - eg. 1. Will technology change creativity?
2. Can technology enhance art education and its accessibility?
3. Will the digital revolution produce a different type of art student? )
..and/or other question questions that digital makers groups want.
The idea being that a number of the audience will participate in the discussion and leave their completed questionaries behind.

However how will you create the mock hologram in a light space?

Great yes lets have a hologram welcoming people and saying what is going on, that would be great - we are also looking to start to build a Bionic Art Student which we'll be able to keep developing and experimenting on - this will also be near the entrance, to help spark peoples interest in the 'Arts Work of the Future' theme by getting hands on with being able to add to the robot (in whatever way they want). Grzesiek will be kicking off the basic robot elements this week (e.g eye/camera, voice) down at WCA and we'll move RoboStudent around so we can all keep adding to it

Okay, great..looking forward to seeing the new student robot.
As for the welcoming hologram, we still need the description wording for activities being undertaken by incubator 2, so that we can update the hologram's message. Does anyone have the high level description of the activities in incubator 2 ?

Hi Nicola, the idea is to place the hologram in an encasement protected from direct light.
